If you play on a course in Idaho, Washington or Montana be prepared for the invasion of the Mountain Pine Beetle. Already prevalent in British Columbia, the Pine Beetle infestation has made it's way over the Rocky Mountains into Alberta and will soon spread South into the Pine forests of the Northwest US. Here in B.C. areas of infestation are so vast they can be seen from the space station. In our little neck of the woods in Kamloops, we stand to lose between 60 & 80% of the mature Ponderosa Pines in our Rose Hill course. If you play on a course with lots of Pine trees in one of the above mentioned States prepare yourself for this eventuality. Very little can be done to curb the problem besides logging, extreme cold weather or forest fires. Sorry for the disturbing news but if you are a player in one of these areas brace yourself for lots of dead pine trees coming your way.
