My roommate last year gave me a Discraft Vortex with the 1990 PDGA World Championships stamp. The disc is used it has a few nicks and scuffs, but the disc is still in prime throwing condition. Also, the disc has a "Discraft Factory Misprint" stamp on the back. Is this a collectors item? Also, how can I find what the defect is in the disc.

Thanks,
Dustin

It is not a collectors item, and I doubt you could find someone who would pay more than $5 for it.

Thanks,

I was just interested in finding out. I've not heard of the Vortex before.

Thanks for the info.

Your best bet is probably Play it Again Sports. They don't care too much about disc "cache". It's $5 for a disc in good shape around here regardless of make or model.

Oddly, the first disc I ever lost was a Discraft Vortex. Someone told me I was lucky. :D

The Vortex is a blast from the past. It probably came out in '92 or '93. Most of that old school stuff is still available from Discraft. One of "my" kids used to throw one of mine for her water disc so it is probably in a river or pond now.

I love the Vortex. 1st ace was with one. I wish they still made them, but luckily I still have a couple.

Poorly molded discs aren't sold, they're ground up most of the time. The defect is in the hotstamp somewhere, I'd bet.

That mold is a very stable early disc. I have a few hot pink premium-weight ones in the discarchives somewhere.
