Does anyone else think the x tracker will be a good beginner disc? I'm glad to see this disc; brings the release of a z tracker closer to reality.

i haven't thrown the x yet (was supposed to throw it this weekend but they didn't arrive yet, will be throwing the photon glow). based upon my experiences with the Z one, it is probably a little on the fast side for someone that is just starting out.

as for a "first high speed driver" i'm guessing it will be an excellent choice. however, considering most people nowadays bypass the "what i should be throwing" phase, i would probably rank it as a better choice than most of the newer discs out there for beginners.

Thank's Blake; great advice as usual. I bought a glide for my gf, but I kinda like it. Rather, I'm not sure if it will earn a place in my bag, but I was throwing long and accurate with it.

I guess I should let her throw it. What do you think of a beat up x avenger for beginners? I have plenty of those.

Beat up X-Xpress, or beat up D or X Stratus. Can't go wrong there for newbies.

I got a photon xpress from Mike at Sun Kings and was gonna let her try it, but that disc is too cool hehe. I may have to give her my z xpress.

Hank, I think the Glide is a great disc for beginners. Both of my 2004 Ace Race discs are still being thrown my the new players that I gave them to.

I'm gonna give it up as soon as I'm done with it hehe; maybe I should just buy another one.

Hank:

when it comes to beginners i have written articles on this. personally i find beginners succeed best with old school larger diameter drivers. discs in the vein of an eclipse, #2 flyer, #3 flyer, cobra, #3 driver, etc., all in standard plastics. the squall is probably the "best" elite plastic flyer for beginners that i know of. as for the next tier (first tier of drivers), i like discs that are along the lines of a raven, cheetah, xl, voyager/polaris, etc.

midranges tend to understate nose angle dependence and gyroscopics, but any new fast driver generally overstates it.

basically, i don't condone teaching anyone with any driver designed after 1998 with the exceptions of the leopard and the sabre, although i prefer to get them throwing discs with a little more fade.

Blake,
I guess she's on the right track as she's throwing an old polaris I have. She was doing well with a beat up stingray, but it got flipped into a marsh in Live Oak. And, she just lost her 150 class gazelle into a lake yesterday.

The problem is that she wants to add to her collection. Other than throwing with the nose up on occasions and her hyzer putts, she's doing really well.

She's been messing with my lighter buzzes since I just went to the midnight buzz, but I'm not sure she's getting the rotation on the disc.

Incidentally, she putts well with a z putt'r that I had no use for. She found out why I didn't like it this weekend with the wind at about 30 mph.

heh, how is her wanting to add to her collection bad? :P

get her hooked and she'll never look at you funny again when you admit you just spent $130 on new plastic because this latest run of <insert disc here> was "special."

sounds like the older slower discs are on the right track.

Not bad, B. The problem is she wants elite z stuff; the stuff you said you didn't recommend. Example, when she saw my starfire, she decided she must have one. But, she's not ready for that level of (over)stability yet. She was throwing the hell out of my old sting ray. I'm tempted to pull another one out of my closet.

I'm sentimental about them since they were some of my first discs. Also, when I spend 140 or so, some of it is hers.... :D

She told me she got us tickets to a beer tasting last week; did I find a woman that understands me or what?

BTW, what do you think on her using a buzz?

Threw an x for the first time this past weekend and it was sweet. It held a turn for ever and I didn't have to put that much on it. The z and x are both great discs and easy to control.

That's good to hear. I still haven't found time to mess with mine. I'm sure it's sweet. Maybe when the Holidays are over, and the baby is off to college i'll have time.

I got one for free from someone who didn't wnat theirs at Warwick Animalfest this year(it was part of the players package)
I loved it at first.. It was like a longer teebird. I bombed a few holes that i don't normally hit..

But it unfortunately beat in super fast.. It's not my hyzerflip/turnover/roller disc although I will probably replace it with a STarwinder that i'm getting from harryhood..

I figured it would beat in fairly quickly but thankfully I have yet to hit any trees. :D My Z's have held up nicely even when one of them hit pavement after dropping a good 75 ft.
