I had a 172 Medium WIzard *AHEM* dissapear from my bag recently, and plan on replacing it. I disliked that I had chipped it up pretty good, although it was a great disc. I plan on replacing it VERY soon(I have nothing with such a low speed and perfect level of overstability on my shelf) and am considering going with something in E Plastic. Would a 172 E Wizard be similar to a 172 Medium Wizard?

In my opionion E-wizards are more overstable.
E wizards are great but I still like the medium S plastic. My opinion is that S's are better for putting and E's are better off the tee. My advice is to carry both.
In my opionion E-wizards are more overstable.
I find that the E Wizards are noticeably more overstable as well. Throws that would flip up to flat and glide with a meduim S Wizard turn out to be hyzer shots with the E.
I also agree that it may be worth carrying both.
Not to thread jack but how exactly does one tell which wizard they have. Mine is purple with a wizards on the front(yeah I know that doesn't help) but its actuall pretty firm. I consider it slightly stable however I can make it do about anything I want. I don't feel like its a great putter but I can run a line on a basket from 125ft with it with little problem. I throw it mainly 200ft and in and on the occasional elevation change holes that are 260+ when I need something to come in slow and easy.
I need to get another one as its starting to get abused but overall its the one disc I can't live without. I got the recommendation on here to try it and I love it.
They usually have the firmness written on the back. If not I'm guessing it's probably a medium.

on the bottom of S Wiazrds, there should be a handwritten F(irm), M(edium), S(oft), or SS(Supersoft.) If that writing isn't there, try dowsing it.
Yeah Gateway hand writes it; I just got a midnight soft from Sun king without any markings. It's listed on the invoice as 175. I'll get my friend to weigh it for me.
As to the e question. I have a 170 e wizard that is not as overstable as my 175 firm; I'm not sure it it's intended that way or if it's the weight.
So if you had a 172, you may want to try a 170. Where's scooter when you need him....
I prefer the firm in max weight though I just ordered a soft cause I likey the black discs.
If your interested in a slightly used e wizard at 170 send me a message.
While my Glow E wizard does have more fade if thrown flat, I've found that the E holds an anhyzer line longer and better than my soft S wizards, so I use it for right turn up shots often, and successfully. It may be that the E is slightly lighter, but 6 grams should not make that much difference. Maybe it's a bit freaky, or maybe it's the glow pigments in the pastic, but it definately stays on the anny line longer.
YMMV
I've always wondered about weight. I'm always told that no one can pick up a disc and know it's weight; however, throwing it is different.
I miss right with my e wizard, but I'm not sure if it's the disc or me. Many times, I start with a stack of putters and just throw them one after the other without paying attention to what I'm throwing. I can almost count on the firms to stick in the basket, and the e wizard (170) to miss right. The softs/mediums I have no consistency with, yet.

"E" Wizards fade more on deceleration, but will flip more if you have a turbulant release. I go with max weight either way though.

Out of curiousity, what's the stiffness like on the glow E Wizard?
I just noticed that no one has pointed out that many E Wizards are much "floppier" (i.e. have more flexable flight plates) than any of the S Wizards, including super softs. The plastic holds up better, but I can feel the disc droop a bit when I hold one side of it. I don't get that droop with medium or soft S Wizards. If that's a potential problem then you may want to stick to the Ss.
I also find that Wizards can take quite a beating before they change flight paths. My beat up Wizard looks way worse than it flies. I have no touble throwing it on a sweeping hyzer.
The e is definately floppy. I may invest in a max weight one and see how it flies for me. I love the black midnight I just got 2 days ago. Wish I could have found it in medium.
Does anyone notice a slight stability change between firmness?
I would hesitate to use Hank's word ... Floppy ... to describe the Glow E wizard... You can feel your fingers through the flight plate easier than any other wizard, but the thick rim keeps the disc in shape... I think of floppy and i think it's like holding a pancake.
The disc holds its shape in the hand, but has a very flexible feel, especially in the flight plate. But i don't have any problems with roll aways either.
I like the feel more with the Glow E, but the soft max weight is my most consistant wizard. I want to try other flexabilities, plastics etc .... as they are all great, and I want to discover the greatest putter for me.

There are also some "E" wizards that are stiffer. I got 1 from Devan Owens this summer and it is still in my bag as a off and on putter and main <300 driver.
Firm is more consistent for me. For 35 bucks, you can try out the different firmness.

I *WAS* carrying both. I have a 168 Soft Wizard for putting. This was my upshot disc. I have a bunch of soft and supersoft wizards, but this was my only medium. Looks like I'll order a 172 Medium and a 170 E Wiz to try out. The overstability along with the predictability are the traits of the medium wizard I liked best.
I also have thrown a few of the glow wizards, and the run that I got is LESS Stable than my soft wizards in the same weight. My 168 Soft Wizard was replaced with a 168 Glow Wizard due to it holding a straight line longer before fading (less force required to get the disc to point B from point A)

I just ordered:
1 172ish Medium Wizard
1 174-175ish Midnight Medium Wizard
1 172ish Pro-D Challenger
1 172ish Cam Todd Challenger
1 172ish E-Wizard
We'll see which one is the last one voted out of the bag.
Hopefully sunking can provide the usual level of service in getting me 5 discs that I can't choose which one I like most.
[edit]d'oh, forgot the CT challenger

Had them up on my site. I can e-mail you a spreadsheet of the scores. I had to revert to a backup of the DB (had a security hole and somone spammed it) and lost all the data keyed in :(.
