Perhaps I'm wasting my brain power, but I was curious which disc are the most common to be lost(not-recovered) in the drink/obstacle.
My guess is that the winner will have these traits:
a) beginner friendly disc
b) disc that folks like enough to replace when they loose it
c) Probably a little flippy/bad in the wind
d) a disc that can go extra far when thrown just right (i.e. can give a false sense of confidence)
e) a popular disc
My guess: sidewinder/valkyrie
What are your thoughts? Experienced Lake Rats what do you see?

The most lost disc is your favorite disc.
(Better get a big reserve of your favorites. That is why I have 7 Z-Buzzz's and 8 Z-XL's)

I have lost more 11x rocs than anybody and a couple of 10x :(
Hmm.. I have lost many discs in the short time I have been playing. I have lost them playing on wooded courses, playing right before dark, throwing them in a creek, throwing them in a tree, or just simply forgetting about them. As far as general disc mold goes.. I would say valkyries (I have lost at least two of them and both were my favorite disc at the time). Putters are the hardest to lose, yet I've still managed to lose them.. I am bad for losing discs (being red/geen colorblind doesn't help) - but I have found my fair share of discs as well.

In the past year I have found about five discs and three times it was a DX Archangel
I've lost more Flashes than any other disc (twice). Both times it just wouldn't come back and flew off to the right.

I can't tell you how many Ghost stamp 1st run Z-wasps I've lost. I had a stack of 15 of em and I'm down to my last one. 4 of them are in Lake Paul B. Johnson from the same hole. A several of them are in North Mississippi. 2 were in a walmart bag and I think my girlfriend threw them away.

ROCS - handsdown
I lost my Devilhawk. It went so far that I never found it.
I've only lost 2 discs since May and they've both been Cheetahs. One went into a river & one in some trees and we could never find it. (now I think about it, it was probably stuck up in a tree & we never looked)
Not the discs fault though, I threw 'em :D
Right after losing them I went & replaced them. Still have one in the bag & it gets used a lot. Long live the Cheetah.

I lost the first disc I ever bought, on the first throw...
I was used to throwing an ultimate disc, and bought a leopard. I stepped up to a long hole with elavation, and turned the thing over so bad that it was never seen again, right over the top of the tree line. We looked for 30 minutes, and I played the rest of the round with a 150 class DX Shark (on a 10000 ft. course). :(
Since then (3-4 years) I've only lost 5 discs.

I ran an event recently for grade school children. We needed 100 discs and got them donated from Marhasll Street. They sent 100 lost and found discs. The most common disc was the Valk, followed by the Beast.
There were all ranges of plastic from DX to CE. Watching kids who don't know any better toss plastic that people pay big money for is rather amusing.

I've had 5 different Champ Firebirds in my bag since July. This year at Hudson Mills, I threw aCFR TL on #14, and didnt pick my drive up after I putted. I realized this the next day and luckily, my buddy had a nice used CFR TL in his trunk. I bought it from him, went to play a round, pulled it out on #14 and aced. I lost that TL soon after.

It should be no surprise seeing my signature, but I've lost more orcs than any other disc. I always keep several in my bag now. I would think that once the sidewinder is out longer it will ecplise the valkyrie in lost discs. Also black discs seem to disappear. I won't even buy them anymore.

What about stingrays??? I'm surprised no one has said that yet. I'd think Classic Cobras and Stingrays would be way up there. I always find beat to hell stingrays at courses and I found the same disgusting gray X-clone at one course almost every time I played for 2 years.

I have found 2 - Zflash's. I have also found 2 Roc's. But one day I climbed on top of a roof near a DG course and found about 3 Frisbee brand discs.

I've been playing for a little over a year now, and I have yet to loose a single disc. I've had several close calls (in lakes and rivers mostly), but haven't lost any yet (knocks on wood).
However, I have found at least a dozen+, and none of them are the same mold. I would guess that most of the discs I found were lost due to darkness, or people throwing in windy conditions. My local courses don't have any water hazards, so most discs are in the trees, way out in the woods, or laying very near a basket (probably not found as the sun was going down).

I would say my drivers...that is becuase they are the discs that get thrown the farthest, therefore moer chance to lose sight of them.

I'd say 95% of the drivers at the WACO NT that tried to cross the Brazos River failed. Nice Catfish food now :D
The discs I see most are DX eagles and DX valkyries. I'd say over the past year I've found at least 20 of each. I'm sure the reason is that most beginners start with DX plastic and use one of these two drivers. The most lost champion disc seems to be the teebird. I find tons of them. Valks are up there too. BTW, in the last year I found about 800 discs. About 350 of them are pristine Champion or Z plastic drivers.
I've lost a lot of Xl's and blazes, but maybe that's just because I stocked up once and didn't care about losing them for while.

DX Valks for me. But that's because I keep one in my bag for use is situations where I might lose my disc. :) They are great flyers and they are cheap, and if they survive long enough to get beat up they make great rollers, giving them a good useable lifespan.

I find more DX Gazelles and Cheetahs than anything else. Usually when I find them I just leave them in the fairway or give them to the chuckers on the next tee.
One Champion Sidewinder, One Z Crush, Two DX Cobra's ... All in the lake at UAH.
One Starfire left at the practice field.

Sell treasure maps. That's where the money is. :) A rumor about 200 unmarked 1st Run CE Valks and current eBay prices....you could retire off the sales of those maps.
Just make sure you accidently lead anybody to them, or you'll lose all furter sales. :D
The logical "pro" for doing this deed was mad about 2 years too late for 1st run CE Valks, though. Who could this rumor be about???

Im not proud to say this, but here it goes
in last two or three years, i 've lost at least five Champion Orcs
two reason of losing those Champion Orcs are strong snap and release that the Orc flies straight into the dense woods. secondly those young punks taking my adorable Champion Orcs. ( I've suspected they have stolen my three Champion Orcs) and being disadvantage being deaf and unable to talk with those punks, who stole my discs. :mad:They would tell me where it flies and landed, and i never found them.
However, I still have some batch of Champion Orcs :p
DeafDGolfer
Discs that when thrown in correctly turn or something. My first loss was a flying eye roc it flipped (rather my form was off) it into a lake.
I've turned two flashes over into a lake, one dyed.
My pro starfire flipped into a pond in Ingleside, but that was my fault; I knew it was getting beat up and starting to flip.
When firebirds came out I found a lot of them very short and very far to the left of the fairway.
I have lost. 2 Z XS's, (one of them was a tye dye near dusk. I came back with every flashlight I could find to no avail) my 1st and only ace disc, an X XL, a Z Crush, a Z Cyclone, a DX Teebird, a DX Eagle, an Aviar, a DX Cyclone, a Z X2, and maybe a couple others I forget.

Horses hehe.
I found a fairly new DX Gazelle yesterday. Sitting right in the fairway under some leaves. People must give up looking too easy.
No contact info on it so it's MY Gazelle now. Gazelles & Cheetahs are perfect for my noodle arm (but my sidewinder is still my farthest driver).
It's funny, someone in my group said "I'll give ya $5.00 for it" which I refused. :D
Put names/numbers/email addresses on your discs....
Believe it or not some people are still honest & will call. I've got one back that I lost...... without contact info you have no chance.

I don't know what the most lost disc is...probably the one that turns the corner out of sight...I tend to lose purple discs most...
I do know that the most broken discs are stingrays, xl's and stratus'...my friend collects the bits and makes items out of them for gifts!
Some people just dont want to ruin a good round by wading through the water or scouring the woods for a $10 disc, so I see why I find some simple ones

I just put my first initial and last name on my discs. To me it is just a $15 piece of plastic. And if the disc was lost it was a terrible throw anyway, even if at the bottom of UAH hole #17 KC Loftty (by the sounds of it, you lose more on #13 then trying to fly the 370ft over the water for the duece on #17).
At a tournament, my reserve box is usually an exact replica of my bag, even my beat discs. So if I lose one I just get another one after the round or when I pass my car. I also have a lot of my favorite discs. 6 Z-Avengers, 8 Z-XL's, and 5-Z-Wasps, 6 Z-Buzzz's and 20 challengers.

Where do you get this info... we've never met or thrown together by my knowledge ... why do you pretend to know me. I've had four go into the pond on UAH and I play it once a week. One sidewinder flipped hard on 12 (long pin). Two cobra's trying the ace route on 13 didn't make it. One Crush didn't clear the water on 17. It's the only place I've ever lost a disc, and It's not like I'm the only one, as someone recently went diving with goggles and a snorkle and fished 80 discs out of that **** pond in under an hour.
always carry a disc you either don't like, or didn't spend much on when you play that course.
I gave back about 50 discs this year, about 8 to the same guy alone. I've even returned the same disc twice in a couple instances.
