I am doing some research for our local park district. I am an avid dg player, and when traveling in business, often stay in cities or towns that have a course. Does anyone else do this? If so, how often? Do you stay overnight? This info may be beneficial to towns thinking of adding a course. Also, do you set up vacations around going to certain courses? And, do you spend $ for other items(gas, food, etc.) when you drive to a town to play? Thanks for the help.

Denny - if you have not done so yet - go to pdga.com and click on information, then on "course develpment" and then download the article by Jason Sinischalski with a cost/benefit study of disc golf. This study may do the trick for you.

My wife, kids, and I go on between 6 and 9 camping trips a summer. I try to some extent to plan it so I can be close to a dg course. I rescheduled one weekend trip this past summer so we'd be in this particular area when they were holding a tournament.
I don't travel much for work anymore but when I do I look on the course directory to see how close a course maybe from where I need to be. If there's one in the area I then try to work it in around the business part of the trip and the travel part of it.
thanks for the reference, it was quite helpful. I had not seen it before. I actually designed our local course(freeport, Il) 2 yrs. ago and sold the idea to our park dist. which let me do what I wanted to an existing beautiful park. the results have been great. We have a club, tourneys, lots of use. I was just interested in whether people actually plan trips alot around visiting courses very much.. This is a hidden economic impact on a community.
