I have read Blakes articles on shoulder pain but was hoping to get some more personal input.
If you look at my post here (http://www.pdga.com/msgboard/showflat.php?Cat=&Number=451724&page=0&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=&fpart=1) you can see my technique.
I know I'm turning my shoulder on the pull back, but something has to be causing this. I'm don't understand how to "keep a loose arm" on the forward motion.
All I know is I'm too the point now I'm going to have to take some time off for healing & I don't really want too. : )
Any tips?
Thanks.
I know when I first started playing, I would get some extreme pain in my shoulder/chest area..now it's more my shoulder/back, not sure what's causing the more recent pain either.

Hey OT,
I also have shoulder pain and I can share info but it may or may not be relevant.
I have tendonitis in my right shoulder and whenever I push too hard the tendon gets irritated, swells, and hurts. In general, throwing correctly does not exacerbate the problem. Throwing incorrectly always does.
I break my throw into two parts, the load and the whip. The load includes the reach back and pulling the disc across my chest, the whip is the actual throw. When I try and pull the load hard I hurt my shoulder ( I'm also less acurate and my throws are shorter). The load is loose and easy. I only tighten my grip and rip hard as I straighten my elbow and whip the disc. By putting my emphasis there, I am sparing my shoulder a lot of the stress that comes with pulling through too early. That late whip derives all it's power on the unwind of the forearm instead of the shoulder.
The second thing I do is that I have a set of exercizes that strengthen the muscles holding the tendon in place. These help a ton and I highly recommend them. If you are interested PM me and I will write them up for you.
I have this pain on the outside of my shoulder/back, and ocassionally on the sides of my lower back. i just figure its because im working on getting my backhand right, and i havent really used those muscles this agressively before.
Thanks. I guess I'm throwing with my shoulder & pulling hard all the way through the throw. I noticed my drives kept getting shorter & shorter the more I played today, I guess my shoulder was telling me to stop....
It is much more sore now then when I posted. The pain is on the front part of my shoulder, down to the arm.
I plan on doing some weight training during the winter months but if you could work together a list that would be great.
Looks like I'll have to re-work my throw all together.
