Assuming that you're trading some discs, and only shipping one or two, what are the preferred:
1. Packaging
(Cardboard box, Large envelope)
2. Delivery company
(UPS, USPS, FedEx, DHL)
Bubble mailers save on shipping costs compared to boxes and protect the discs just fine.
For 1 or 2, I would say those USPS priority envelopes with the bubbles in them.

How much are the bubble-wrap priority mail envelopes?
I have lots of bubble wrap left over from all the wedding gifts we got last year, and I have plenty of manilla heavy-duty envelopes. So I was just going to wrap the discs in bubble-wrap and mail them in the envelopes. I would guess that's the same as the priority mail with bubble-wrap in them. But if those are cheap enough, I might just use them.
You can probably get away with that, especially if its a z or champ disc. They are very tough.
usps priority flat rate envelope:3.85 you can fit 3 drivers, 2 mids and a driver, or 2 putters.......maybe 3 mids if your creative. If just shipping one disc, get 5 stamps, put them on a manila envelope and stick it in the mailbox.
usps priority flat rate envelope:3.85
Yep. Cheap & simple. They even have the Priority Boxes at my post office. I'm sure you can fit more into those. I believe they ship by weight so it may be more than the 3.85, but it's a super fast way to get them sent.
If it's not a "collector" disc or something that will be thrown, I'd just drop 'em in the envelope & not worry about it being damaged in transit. If it is worth something, maybe wrap it with bubblewrap.
Most of the discs I get from online vendors come wrapped in newspaper and I haven't had any problems.
That's what I was thinking; when I buy from vendors, they are wrappped in paper, not bubble wrap.
Ok. Maybe wrap it in newspaper :D

I will either use the plastic bag that some of the discs come in from the factory from time to time or newspaper. I use USPS, using the $3.85, Priority Mail Envelope. I may use the boxes if I need to send more than 3, but that hasnt happened yet. I think the weight is irrelevant when using Priority Mail, if it fits it what USPS supplies for shipping Priority Mail, its $3.85. So far I havent sold anything of REAL value, just champ and dx plastic so I havent used any bubble wrap yet, but I will, if I do in fact sell something of true value.
dude, its flat rate........and no, you cannot fit more than 3 discs in one of those envelopes,,,,its impossiblt. It has to be closed to ship
I got a disc shipped from Eaby and it was stamped $1.60. I should have asked him how it was shipped. I dont remember waiting a long time or anything either.
sounds like first class. And the shipper was close by.
Discs are borderline sacred to me, and i have to admit i cringe when i trade someone and they throw it in an envelope and ship it. I always use a box or a USPS Priority stamped box. if you save them you can use them over and over.
also, USPS delivery confirmation is only 35 cents and though there's a bit of a lag it lets you and the recipient track the package and its sacred contents.
If you are shipping used discs that aren't worth much i guess it isn't so important. still, some mailmen will bend envelopes to fit them in mail boxes and if a disc sits bent in a hot mail box for several hours -- that's not a pretty picture. shipping in cardboard boxes is a more considerate approach.
You're right about mailmen; however, if you right do not bend in shapie all over it, it may keep them from being stuffed. But, I have recieved pictures with do not bend written on it in a plastic baggie from the post office with a notice that unfortunately my mail was damaged....

Why take a chance using an envelope when USPS will give you the boxes for free. Click here. (http://shop.usps.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductCategoryDisplay)
The link above is to the USPS shop where you can get the Priority Mail Boxes for free. It seems to take forever to load.

I get an error when trying to load that page. If I could get them for free, I'd definitely do that.

Yes, the boxes are FREE!!!
I don't know why that page takes so long to load. Go to this link: ([url=http://www.usps.com/businessmail101/classes/priority.htm) http://www.usps.com/businessmail101/classes/priority.htm and click on "Order Priority Mail Supplies".

I hate when the mailman jams my disc into my mail box, its barely big enough to fit the disc let alone the the bubble wrap around it, i wish they would just set them on my porch or something instead of cramming it in my mailbox even though it clearly says DO NOT BEND on the outside
If it's more than one disc of any value, a box is the way to go. Maybe it is my luck because multiple discs in a bubble envelope have arrived with flight plates pushed in so the dome is reversed and in one case a disc had been bent backwards. A box may cost a bit more to ship, but if you're trading the cost is equal to both parties and the discs have a greater chance to arrive in the condition they left.

What Discette said. USPS.com go to supplies and order Priority Mail boxes. Free and they drop them off at your door. Order as many as you like. $4.00 to most places shipping 2 discs. Plus it's the best way to protect the disc. Pack it with old newspaper to pad the contents. Envelopes and bubbler mailers just suck when it comes to protecting.
i recieved 7 discs from Rick a short while ago and his way was by far the best i have recieved. newspaper is a must for securing the discs. i hjave recieved discs without anything to pack them into the box, and although they werent damaged i assume it was because they were champion. shippers dont care about your packages, so pack them tight.
