i got a few from kid roc (great trader by the way) and chose to throw one-- it flips like crazy!! Now ive heard over and over that "understable discs dont hide technique flaws" what might I be doing? And if its the disc, why do people like them? I just cant get any distance out of them-- i dont really like to hyzer-flip midranges either. Heck I can get my aviars out there further. Help!
Is it beat up? I throw O rocs quite a bit, and I have to throw them badly or with anhyzer to flip them unless they're pretty beat. The one you have could be broken, though. Send it to me. I'll keep it in my bag for 2-3 years, then it'll be fixed.
no its mint! i was the first to throw it...its a big bird stamp. I dunno if different runs came out differently but, it flutters and flips

it shouldn't be unstable out of the box, don't go for pure distance off the bat, throw it for accuracy and learn it's intricacies first. I have a new O Roc and I can't flip it if I tried.

but, it flutters and flips
A disc doesn't flutter if released with good technique. If it fluttered your acceleration is not fluid or you're releasing wrong.
Flutter is caused by a form issue. Rolling of the wrist maybe (feel free to jump in here those of you that know more about form).
I've never seen an understable roc unless it's been beat to hell. Most players try to beat up their roc, so you may count yourself luck if you do have an understable one.
If it is the disc, just put a little hyzer on it; it will start left, then straighen up and soar. I think the word for it is hyzer flip ( I will need to learn dg terminology one day).
Hope this helps.
If he is wrist rolling, does anyone know how to fix it?

three things to consider:
1) flutter is caused by off-axis torque "noise" in the throw. generally it is the torque causing the turn.
2) most people i know that throw ontarios do hyzer flip them, so it is likely not the disc you are wanting if you dislike hyzer flipping mids. you can probably trade it for 4 ranchos though :P
3) from my experiences with ontarios, they need about 20% more height to carry than ranchos (but are imo, also easier to throw high than ranchos). e.g. to put em 300', an ontario will likely need 18-25' of height under it.
as for the reason people liked them, the people i know that threw them when they were brand new have said:
a) it was a disc that if you turned it, you KNEW it was coming back.
b) when you broke it in, it was the straightest disc ever made (when throwing it on a hyzer flip line).

I like the grip on the Ontario rocs much more. I get a more consistent release and they are very straight with a predictable finish. If you do turn it over it isnt going to keep sailing on you like a coyote will, it will come back and you will probably have thrown it further than you expected.
