I was looking through Sun King Disc's website, and there is a hat made of A-MAX. Does anyone know if this is like the cool-max shirts that help keep you cool?

I know I could call the company, but I didn't want to bug them too much.

From the description at Sunking it sounds like the same stuff or something extremely similar.

The picture of this hat does no justice to the actual product. It has a great fit combined with a "breathable" mesh material and a superb look. Simply put, it's better than some of the FlexFit brand hats that we currently stock, and at a better price as well. And how can you beat the "Shut Up And Throw" embroidered on the back?

what does a-max stand for; is it like cool max? I have a few flex fit hats, not sure if I like them or not.

Hey Hank. Not directly addressing the A-Max, which sounds like a great product, but synthetic hot weather hats in general. The best thing I have found, if you don't mind a truly funky looking cap, is the Patagonia Airius Runners Hat - thin supplex nylon top, soft polyester mesh side panels, cool max band, adjustable buckle in back, and a soft brim that you can flip up, fold up or wear down. The whole thing is treated with Patagonia's proprietary Capilene wicking whats-it. Wet the mesh side panels with your water bottle and it's like wearing an air conditioned cap. It is the coolest hat in hot weather I have ever worn. Comes in nothing but funky colors......... :cool::D

The reason I ask specifically about a-max is that I like this very much. My cool max shirts are the best I have found for hot weather. My friend washed his nike cool max shirt and it dried almost immediately.

....and Capilene polyester wicks even better than cool-max. Google Patagonia Airius then start working. I got mine off e-bay but don't see any listed right now. Here in Carolina the top end outdoor stores like Great Outdoor Provision Company carry most of Patagonia's hat line. If you get one buy the largest size available because you can easily adjust the largest size to fit the smallest head and you'll have more air circulating room. Enjoy.
