Here are the actual rules from the NT Handbook. Polo shirts are not required. Several collar types are acceptable including v-neck and crew neck in Dry-Fit materials.

8.3.1
...All players must wear a shirt covering their upper chest area. A well-tailored shirt with a fold-down, mock turtle, v-neck, crew neck, Henley, or zippered collar, and with sleeves covering the part of the arm from the shoulder to the elbow (commonly known as the upper arm), shall be considered acceptable. Women are also allowed to wear sleeveless shirts as designated above.

...Crew neck or V-neck shirts made of high-performance or high-tech materials, such as Dry-Fit, Cool-Max, and others will be allowed.

Thats what I did Justin. I wear a collared shirt at any event I take seriously.

1) It helps me get into "competition mode" and helps focus on the task at hand.

<----Multi-sport athlete so uniforms were always part of competition for me.

2) Also when I do play larger events, wearing a collar won't feel like a hinderance.

3) Looking like a pro; big bag, seal skins, kahkis shorts, collared shirt and a DG hat; will intimidate your competition. That is, until they see you throw and realize your are an Am. (At least I have the intidation factor for 10 minutes.) :D

What is a crew neck? Isn't that what a t-shirt has?

Only if you wear your underwear on the outside.

na I dont wear hats anymore because I always look up right before I putt and if I see the bill I think theres something above me so I got to throw it low lol. But what I was talking about is I might just end up getting some polo shirts that have collars so when ever I go to a big tourn I dont have to try and find them at last minute but I like how you said about wearing them just to get used to it.

Whoever posted about a uniform was exactly right. When you put your uniform on, it means game on. Not practice, no fooling around. My uniform is my merrils, khaki shorts, and sleeveless cool max shirt (oh and a bird -watching hat), but I do not do tournaments

thats wrong

Sep 30 2005, 03:37 PM
I was trying to say that uniforms put you in the correct frame of mind for when it's game time. As far as what I described, that's what I wear, but I am only a casual player.

Most pictures I've seen of tournament are guys in T-shirt. Is a t-shirt considered a crew neck? It doesn't affect me, but I would like to know in case some of the local players that travel to tournaments ask.

I prefer to call it "gearing up". :) "Uniform" has the connotation of "looking exactly like the others".

I totally agree with you, though, in that "gearing up" helps get you ready to go.

Sep 30 2005, 04:28 PM
Hey, I like that: Gearing up! I'm gonna use that in athletics.
