Has anyone ever washed their Revolution Bag in a washing machine?
Mine is not stained or anything but I have approx 100 cigarette butts in it and now it stinks & I've quit smoking so I'd like not to be around the smell if possible. I was thinking I'd just throw it in the washing machine, then the dryer, or maybe just spray it down with Febreeze... any suggestions?
washing machine is fine, but dont put it in the dryer, hang dry it.

put it in the dryer. I do mine every few months and it hasn't ever hurt it.

I recommend that you wash it in Tide.
It may be too cold out tide!!!

I've washed both of mine several times ... not a single stitch was harmed. I hang dry mine though, heat can damage nylon or synthetic thread and materials and can cause it to break later. Just a suggestion.

They are fine to put in the washing machine, although I'd suggest taking out the cigarette butts first.
They(Revolution DG) suggest not using a dryer, and letting it air dry.

just be careful... i know several people who washed theirs in the washer and now the nylon is no longer water resistent.. you may want to get scotch guard or something else that will return it to it's original water resistent state. and again, use cold/warm water and no dryer...

ScotchGuard doesn't work! I put a whole can on my bag and it still soaks up the water. I was thinking of trying shoe/wax waterproofing type stuff. Any other ideas?

There's some crap they sell in camping stores.. tek-wash. I've seen it being applied and the user said it worked well for waterproofing just about anything.

it worked on my bag, but i used it before I had a problem with absorbtion. The best waterproofer in my option is silicon spray. Just be VERY careful... i use it on my shoes. If you get the spray on your discs, good luck!
Don't put it in the dryer. Are you guys serious about the washer affecting it's water resistance? Does anyone know what Revolution recommends?
If it is just the smell that is bothering you, I'd go with the Febreeze idea. My bas is coverered in mud on bottom from the drink holders being open. I've been just rinsing it off with the hose, but I am in need of a good cleaning.

Hello fellows-
Machine washing of any REVOLUTION Bag is no problem. I used to wash the first TEAM Bag I carried every few weeks because it was often the first time players could see one and I wanted it to look good. It always came out looking like new and represented the product well.
As for machine drying, I wouldn't recommend it. Air drying overnight works great without subjecting the fabric, thread, or PVC coating to the extreme heat.
As for waterproofing, I have heard people using spray-on products with some success. I would follow the directions on the product and might even consider testing it first on a part of the fabric that isn't readily visible to see if it causes any change in color.
Thanks,
-Dave
Gotta love it when the big guy answers directly. Dave, did you confirm that machine washing damages the water proofing already on the bag?

Hank-
I don't think it will do anything to the PVC coating on the inside of the fabric, nor did I experience any loss in appearance (like cracking or flaking) or effectiveness with frequent washing. However, I will check with our manufacturer to see if they have any experience wih that.
If you are really concerned, wash it in cold water.
Thanks,
-Dave

I wash mine in cold water, light cycle, and have done so several times. The coating has not cracked or changed. Like any backpack type of fabric, the coating inside the fabric will start to age and crack after a few years, and the more it is exposed to sun and heat the faster it will deteriorate.

lol, thanks, it's day five and I'm chewing nicorette all over the place!!
Thanks for all the responses as well ... I think I'll throw it in the washer tonight - Cold water, delicate cyle, then hang dry over night ... as for water-proofing I guess I will take my chances ... i think it will be fine, if not I'll finally have a good excuse to buy another Revolution bag!! :D

You ought to let it stink to remind you of why you quit. Good luck. I quit three and half years ago.
