I believe that, if you're not current, you can play rec or any other division for which your age and gender qualify you.

I would be surprised if that were true.

ratings still show up for non-current "members". only the rating detail and history are suppressed, so it is still possible to research anyone trying that hard to scam the system.
hopefully the TD would report their PDGA number with the results, which would make it an issue for disciplinary committee consideration if someone did sneak through.

Not to mention that the TD will have received a list of all current and non-current PDGA players that live even remotely close to the tournament location (I know the lists I receive for Maine events covers all of New England, New Jersey and New York). He should be able to find the player's PDGA number and rating (if he has one) just by glancing at the list.
It seems a player would have to travel a long way out of his way to "pull a fast one" on the PDGA and sneak into a lower division in which they don't belong. And even if they managed it, it'd be hard to not get caught, especially if said player cleans up in the lower division...someone's bound to notice and report it.

i forget that felix likes calling me out on sarcasm even though he has to edit it to make his point :D
point being that i answered the kids question on the post after his and other's came after the fact twisting and confusing the issue which is EXACTLY what i posted....
current,non-current,comatose,in a vegatative state,a member of mensa,or of disc golf for dummies....
doesn't matter... ANY pro with less than 955 rating and you can play advanced........
and because i KNOW felix will try to jump on this i'll beat him to it........
EXCEPT in majors or amworlds events
(in my best nelson from the simpson's voice)....AH HA

:D
I forget that felix likes calling me o
Quite to the contrary, it's a tiresome, thankless, and unending chore, but someone's gotta keep you honest. :p :p :p
I answered the kids question the post after his
See? There you go playing fast and loose with the facts again. Your post is not "the" post after his, it's the THIRD post after his, so yours is only "a" post after his, not "the" post after his. :p
You also conveniently overlook the fact that your answer is only partly true, because the 955 rating cap applies only to Men's Advanced; other divisions have lower caps. :p :p :p

You forgot to include tournaments that specify "registered division or higher only" as a special condition. :p :p
Anyone ever get the feeling that fore and the_lung are conjoined twins sharing the same vagina?
