Steve was at once sponsered by D-craft.
Runor has it...
When Cam Todd joined the team and D-craft created 2 discs for him(wasp and challenger aka roc and aviar), Rico wasn't too happy. To him it was probably a "respect" thing.

I think I heard a pdga radio interview where he said he was throwning orcs and teebirds now. I could be wrong...but d~craft wouldn't like this too much I imagine! He did say he was still putting with magnets.
Ahh....stiff magnets.

he throws X predators and magnets and along with teebirds orcs and rocs. I dont think he has any desire to sponsered by a company.
I heard his interview. Not the most articulate human being out there is he ???

The rumor I heard was that the only thing keeping him from being sponsored was the pink Magnet. He loves that thing and won't give it up.
At least that's how I heard it.
He told me he's waiting to take a contract from Callaway (http://www.callawaygolf.com) when ball golf fades away and is replaced with modern golf.

that's too bad. if disc manufacturers could just cut some sort of deal with the players about having a few exceptions in their bag...
i mean, if players can't throw what they want, doesn't that hold them back from playing their best?
if players can't get sponsered doesn't that also hold them back from playing their best? more money = more free time, more travel funds etc.
good for stevie for stickin' it to the man... i mean, i'm sure he could beat some type of aviar up enough and get it to fly somewhat close to his magnet. but it's the principle, and it just extends his love for that disc... which may make him throw it better still :)
so many companies... so many discs... ah well. probably a lost cause.

I know Scott Martin is sponsored by Innova and putts with an 86 Softie. So why wouldnt they let Stevie put with a Magnet???
Stevie is a great guy and a great player. I have a feeling the Discraft thing was about respect but thats in the past. Hes a great player and I cant believe that no one sponsors him. I mean the guy shot an 8 under on the Championship Layout at Hudson Mills during the last round of DGLO this year. That is just INSANE!!!

just remove the **** stamp!! then dye it , whatever!! He is one of the best disc golfers alive , there is no reason why he should not be sponsored!!
he could have a sponsor if he wanted one. maybe it will motivate him to play better being a lone wolf and throwing the discs that he likes the best. I'll bet he really likes those Orcs :D

He should go with disc wing. hahah they only have one disc so he would be able to throw anything else he wants. hahahah

The greatest Bicyclist of the 20th Century, Eddie Merckx, used to ride a Colagno bicycle with Masi's logo painted on...or was it the other way 'round? Anyways, that would qualify as 'post-production' in our sport--but a careful 'dye job' should be a-OK. ;)
he also shot a -13 at de la veaga in the final round of the masters cup. also totally insane!! he's effing brilliant... and still got plenty of years ahead of him.

not a lot of people know this about stevie, he truly does not give a f**k about being sponsored, he has soo many discs its unbeliveable, and with the shop coming....

I met him at Worlds and he was really down to earth and didnt seem to care if he was sponsored or not. Not everyone in the world cares if they got a sponsor. For some people it helps them play full time, for others its just a way to inflate thier ego. Theres alot more of the latter.

What about bonuses for finishing well?
In my experience Steve is a nice guy.
I know in the PGA quite a few players use Clubs from a different manufacturer than they are sponsered by, of course it is pretty uncommon for ball golfers to have all of thier clubs be from the same manufacturer.

If you dont need them why be tied down to one company? How many players from each company are actually recieving cash bonuses? Not nearly as many as you think.

Well all the players finishing in the top 5 at all the A tiers or higher are receiving cash bonuses so you can check the results and do the math yourself on how many players are receiving some.

If I were going to sponsor a player (and I did consider it a few years ago) I would not sponsor someone who makes the news in the way that he did at 2 pro worlds so far. He may be a great guy (I have only met him in passing, never hung around him) but he has some personal issues that I can not support.
(there are other Pro's that I would not give any support to either)

Isn't he sponsored by Innova? I heard he wouldn't take sponsorship without his brother Bamba. As you can see Bamba is sponsored. Maybe Steve hasn't come public until he wins a large event this year or something like that.

what did steve do at worlds.?
also, bamba has the best profile on the innova site
free pizza sponsorship? Maybe a year worth and the belly will, wait are you sponsoring my_hero currently?

Not saying that he isn't a great disc golfer or that wasn't a great round but almost every hole was duceable except I-5 in the final round.
I would say that Daves -11 from all longs was way more insane.
