I recently got a 178 Crystal Z Wasp off of Ebay. I was under the impression that this would be a stable pig of a disc, but it is in fact flippier than my Special Blend Roc. Is this not a Wasp? Did I get a fluke of a disc? Is this how it is supposed to be? I guess hit's a nice wallhanger, but I was hoping to have an overstable midrange to fill a void in my bag.

I honestly didn't even know they made Cryztal Wasps.. I guess you learn something new everyday.

What's the stamp on the disc? I have a Z Wasp that could only be called cryztal as its totally see-through and in slightly different feeling plastic although its not labeled as CryZtal. I got it at the US Amateurs a couple years ago and it has the stamp of the event. I seem to recall them mentioning that there were not very many made and they were done specifically for that event.
However, I couldn't tell you what it flies like because its a beautiful wallhanger!

They do not make CryZtal Z Wasps. I have had a few that were super clear but it was still Z plastic. If it doesnt say CryZtal Z on the disc its not CryZtal. I wish they would make some CryZtal Z Wasps though cuz I could really use a beastly overstable midrange :D

I also got one of those flat-topped, clear Z-Wasps thinking it would be very overstable, or at least moreso than my SB Roc which I use for most midrange over 240 or so. They fly almost the same but the grip isnt as comfortable on the Wasp. They both flip in a headwind without a good amount of hyzer.

Was the 1st run not stable enough for you? I couldn't imagine anyone needing something more overstable than those.
A brand new Drone should work for you.

Those are Buzzz's, I'm pretty sure. I have one too.
Make sure to look for the bead. Those Buzzzz's say "Wasp" on the inside rim, but have no bead.
I was thinking the same thing: if you want crazy overstable go with a drone (or a demon).

Drone is too overstable and I dont throw Gateway or Innova. I need something between my flattop Wasp and a Drone. Maybe I should buy a 1st run wasp and check that out :D

I probably could trade you one for something. Whatcha got? I'm still using the very first 1st run Z-Wasp that Discraft gave me in 2002! :p

P.s. I have a 1st run Z-wasp with the Z ghost stamp on it. I don't find it to be much more overstable than the other Z-wasp i have.

Tafe, it is actually a Wasp (I throw the Buzzz, so I am familiar with the two molds) and I got it VERY early one morning of the 2003 USADGC - there were less than 10 of them available when I bought mine. The USADGC stamp made it flat-topped, but I have never thrown it so I know nothing of its flight characteristics. It was the year we got the blue Z-comet and maroon sleeveless fleece in our players pack. I am not certain, but I think this was right at the time or right before the Buzzz was released. I know its not CryZtal. However, someone could be easily fooled if they did not know better.

O.K., so bring it out to Homie's and we'll see how it flies! :o
Channahon has a nice big open field as well. ;)
Bring it anyway, I'd like to see it.

I got a super clear Z Wasp like that off Ben Calhoun last year and it was an OVERSTABLE PIG and it only weighed 170 grams  I wish I could find more of its kind because I lost and and had to search for a while to find one thats even CLOSE to as overstable as that one was.
CryZtal Wasp would be nice...it would probably complete my transition from Innova to Discraft in mid range discs (my drivers are still almost all Innova)....of course, maybe I should just pick up a Drone...

Tafe, I'll try to remember to bring it up with me to Homies. How did your Open debut go at Channahon? My back has been sore for the last couple weeks and I have been laying low in hopes to rest it up and play in October.
Thanks for the info about how it flies, Mills. I originally bought to use as an overstable mid, but it turned into a wallhanger after I traded my USADGC Z-Comet and I still wanted a nice display disc.
