my friend and i will be going down to USDGC and doing taping for Disc Golf Live.
we will be taping lots of golf, tryin to get all the best shots on camera.
also, we will be doing some interveiws. we have an idea of the people we would like to interveiw, but with me being such an organization freak, i am tryin to come up with an outline of questions. for the most part we know what we would like to ask who we know we are interveiwing, but i would like to get some thoughts from others. its different when you know them, versus if you dont know them.
we are tryin to have fun with this and make it fun for veiwers.
i am just lookin for some more ideas.......
so if you could ask your favorite pro anything.... who and what would it be??

i still want it to be all about disc golf, but i want it to be more fun then the basic....
what do you throw, how do you throw, blah, blah blah. those questions will still be in there, but i dont want to bore people to death.
for example, we are going to interveiw a swede or two. for the long 12 hour drive down there, we will be listening to swede language tapes. dont know if we will beable to utilize it atall, but itll get a laugh.

Here is a serious one.
What was your worst round played as a top pro? And how did it affect your standings in the tournament, and which round was it in?
I always was curious about some of the Top Pros like Climo or Schultz and what a typical day in their Life during the weekdays is
like ?? Do they get up early in the morning and go straight to the "office" (disc Golf Course) and play and practice all day ??
Or since they have been playing so long they don't need to do this . Maybe just a couple of hours a day in practicing ??
Also, maybe you could ask them about sleeping and whether they dream about Disc Golf and dream about playing other fellow Pros ??
Yeah, maybe a reality video of a touring pro would be boring !!

Kenny and Barry are not celebrities. They are just a couple of guys that can throw a disc good. Just regular people. A reality show where we watch Kenny go to WalMart would be pretty boring. Plus, I think they practice way less than you think. I heard that Barry worked on his game a lot a few years ago to get the World Champ title but not sure if he still does that.
If we are going for "A day in the life of...." do it on Stokely. He makes porn!!! :D

unfortunately Disc Golf Live will not be doing a documentary on mitch , (atleast not at this point), so this might take up too much time.
we only have 60 minutes to work with here....
I might ask Ken and Barry who are some of the young players they think may have the brightest disc golf futures and why?
I'd also ask if they would be willing to do a Climo vs. Schultz event at Idlewild with cameras filming the whole thing :D

Ask them how the heightened attention, cameras, interviews etc. effect their play at major tournaments.
Ask them how they feel about rules violations and what their response is when they see it.
Get a series of interviews with pros who push putt and who lift putt to see why they use the putt they use and why they think their style is more effective.

Maybe you should ask them about their finances. I mean, doesn't everyone want to know what their sponsors pay them? (ex. per disc, entry fee's, expenses) Do they work part time? Who is their least favorite person to play with in a tourney?

Other than USDGC and Worlds, ask them what their favorite tournament is. Or ask them what their favorite trophy is. Or favorite state to play in. Or, as i asked Dave before, what their top 5 favorite holes are. Or top 3.

Hey all you seasoned PRO's:
I'm a upper-middle AM1 in Michigan and have been running into a problem,
I have hot rounds in the morning, but have difficulty keeping the momentum going for the afternoon round. I've tried getting right to the course, scarfing down lunch and hitting the course to keep in the flow, but I still don't perform to my standards.
What are some techniques that you suggest that will keep me from tailing off in the afternoon both physically and mentally?

Eat a lighter lunch, and take a snack with you during the round. Helps alot of people. Dont play to much b4 the 2nd round starts, just enough to get you loose and ready to start the next round.

what about playing really bad in the morning? Out of 15 tournaments this year I've had maybe 3 good 1st rounds. Any advice Schweb?
I normally play about 5 holes and putt for a bitbefore my 1st round. And I've done everything from eating a full breakfast to just a granola bar. Doesn't seem to make a difference.
Is there anything I could do to better mentally prepare myself? I think it may be that I have trouble focusing.

My major is Health and Sports Studies at the U of I, and i took a Health class last semester that said the worst thing you can for energy the following day is eat a big meal before you go to bed. I was taught the most important thing you can do for energy to get you through the day is to eat breakfast in the morning. Breakfast is very important.

Then why do marathons have those carb-loading meals the night (or two nights) prior?
tafe
Sep 19 2005, 11:46 PM
Most professional ENDURANCE athletes practice a very balanced diet (40-30-30) during the majority of the season. Carb-loading a day or two before is a way to have plenty of easily usable sugars in your blood for a lot of energy.
We are not endurance athletes (in most cases). We are just walking and standing around alot, not running or biking.
I have found, like Schwebby, that I play better sort of hungry. Most of my best rounds have come with a Clif bar for breakfast. The lighter I feel, the faster I am.
Nutritionally, breakfast is MOST important. But athletically most people need AT LEAST two hours of digestion before engaging in sports. That's two hours BEFORE warmup! I just don't have that time during most single day events.
However, experiment and do what works for you. I'm probably an exception.

AT the MSDGC I saw Schweb running up and down the hills playing as many holes as he could in the morning before the 1st round. I don't think he needs any more energy. I think he got all that energy from all the liquids he consumed Friday night!
That is the secret to his success!

Here's an age old question that old touring pro's might be able to answer............
So you go to the laundry mat to do a load of stinky disc golf clothes. You put an even number of socks into the washer or dryer. Why is it that an odd number of socks comes out? Where the F do they go?

The answer is you actually miscounted the socks because one was hidden amongst the other dirty clothes that you put in the wash. Then when you are done you actually have one more sock in the wash than you thought. So go find the other sock some where else besides the washing machine that you thought ate the missing sock.
