**** thats a stiff penalty !!
I figured this might need its own Thread.............

I speculate he could have seriously threatened a players Life or a PDGA Official. Or maybe he could have vandalised PDGA Property out of frustration from a bad round. Or possibly trash an automobile of an official. Or try to hit on one of the official's wives and ended up assaulting them.

I don't know but this Dave Mellin really screwed up.

What do you all think happened??

Anyway, back to the subject on hand.
Any Speculators on this matter ??

I don't know any of the facts, but [strictly] in my opinion, it would have to be more serious than simple cheating. That is CERTAINLY a punishable crime, but not an entire decade!

Another question: Why no probation after the 'time'?

Apparently non-payment of $2000 tournament funds possibly to either players and PDGA or both?

If anyone deserves a 10 yr suspension, it's Huffman. We figure he stole around $4000 from the Golfers/PDGA/Innova from that 1 tourney, plus nobody got their points, etc because he never turned in any results. Talk about a sorry sack o' trash.

I just remembered...It was him I was talking about. There used to be a note that said that he had to pay back the debt before the suspension was ended. I am sure that is still the case, minimum of 6 months even if he paid it all back before that was up, and the suspension will stay until the money is paid back.

6 month minimum??? SIX MONTHS??? It's been longer than that and I haven't seen him play in a sanctioned event, so have to presume the money's not paid back. I never got MY PDGA membership money back, nor did I ever receive points for my WIN (yes, Murph, I'll always refer to that as my WIN since I probably won't ever get another one)

The worst part of all of it was all the new members dues he took and never sent in, along with Points..thanks goodness they weren't needed for a Tulsa Worlds that year or they may have resorted to your idea Cam.

I fully hope the PDGA keeps him out until all money is paid back, including Innova's. He can make those payments to the OKDGA and some select players that covered that so OKC could keep on golfing.

You honestly think he's worried about paying anyone back? He let his family go over 3 years without hot water, paying people back is surely not an issue. You and I both know that if my wife wasn't such good friends with his, this issue would have been resolved a long time ago ;)
Murph, I'd say there is a better chance of Billy Syphillis showing up at your door in Dallas with a fistfull of 100's /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

I've seen him around from time to time, but have chosen to shun him, ignoring him and those with whom he plays golf now. It's a real shame how this has all turned out, but we're not in 4th grade anymore and this isn't recess...I've outgrown the 'physical' aspect of revenge for 30 bucks or whatever it cost me. It'd be different if it were an insult to my wife or whatever, but at this point losing friendships in the disc golf community here is punishment enough (for the money I lost when I paid my PDGA membership.) I can understand why others who lost more would not feel this way, but I've personally written him off as someone who no longer qualifies for consideration for my friendship, and there's nothing, including making things 'right' with Innova or the PDGA that will change that.

Blake is done...if they choose to play with him...so be it...ignore and learn...supporting/ignoring a WPOS is more tiresome on yourself, than on him

I hope the PDGA will keep the suspension until the money is paid back...
