First off...hi everyone...There...intros done.
Heres the deal.
I have been discin for about four and a half years now. (Although Its been only about a year since I have actually been focused)
Anyways, I got quite a few people in the area hooked on disc and now we all try to play regularly...
I and my friends have gotten to a point where we want to consider joining PDGA next year...But we are not sure how to go about it...I know how to apply and such...What I want to know is how do we set up our own league/team?
What are the regulations to this?...i.e. Do we need a certain # and what must be filed before we are legitimate.
I am also setting up a local tournament. Do i need to set it up through anyone in particular?...
Also do I have to pay anyone fees?...Do I have to contact the City or what?...basically I need a link or someting that explains ALL the rules of leagues and teams...
btw...i live in Iowa if that makes a difference...ie...state rules, etc.

At this point the PDGA formally has nothing to do with leagues. The best way to get info is to look at how some leagues operate by visiting their sites. Here's one in MN:
http://www.sundogtournamentseries.com/

Then, look at the Sanctioning agreement document and others on this event information page: www.pdga.com/documents/td/2005tourinfo.php (http://www.pdga.com/documents/td/2005tourinfo.php)

Contact your State Coordinator under the Contacts link on this site. (S)he can either help you directly or get you connected with a TD who might help you. Attend an Iowa event and just pay the $5 nonmember fee if you're not ready to join yet. However, if you and your buddies join now, you get the rest of this year and all of next year as new members. You can join the PDGA by going to the Membership link.

I actually have a instructional page that talks about starting your own league and provides tons of info and even have examples for different league items. I have a few examples to put up on the site yet but if you click on this link you can get all the start your own league info you need. You can also email me for further questions if you have any:
