Does anyone use a putter around 170 g or so? I've got a new high end plastic putter that I'm wondering about.
I've been told weight doesn't matter too much for putting. But, I disagree, especially in the wind.

I use a 168 Soft Wizard. I like the middle area in weight in my putter because it's less prone to float and sway in the wind, but still light enough it doesn't feel like tossing a brick to get the putter out 20 feet. I have a super duper light wizard that my sister found. I can get it to go a country mile straight, but every **** fly along the way makes it bounce up and down.

I'll use anything over 170g. I really don't notice any difference between 170 and 175. In fact, my current swirlicious putter weighs in at a beefy 171g.
The length and type of shot are more what make up my mind in the wind as to what throw than my putter weight. I throw 174-175 JK Aviars right now. I have a bunch right around 170 also. I would say it is sixes on which one is better in the wind. If you throw a putter bad in the wind, it is going to fly away. If you throw it right in the wind, it's gonna stay.

It doesnt matter what it weigh, as long as it end up in the tray :D
Sweet! Someone recognized my poetic mastermind!
ajones,
for what shots do you throw your 170's?
Also, its a wizard that I have in 170. I haven't thrown in in case one of my friends wanted it (they get a new rather than a used disc).
I throw the 170s (Aviar X) for practice in the backyard. They were the putter I had been using last year though. Then I found some of the more recent run of JK Aviars, those are the 174-175 putters...
I also have a 171 Medium Wizard that is my money upshot disc. That thing is an overstable beast when you consider the rim depth and the weight...

max weight wizards all the way. I never putt with anything less than max. Most reliable for me in the wind, and they dont glide as much. I want a putter to fly like a projectile more than I want it to float.

day golf 175, night golf 172
I agree with the max weight, but it is sometimes hard to find max weight.
