A few months ago Fly 18 helped install the first of it's kind course in the DFW metroplex and arrangements have been made to hold the first of it's kind challenge anywhere (I believe) at Ideal Golf Course on Oct. 1st.
Players will play a ball and a disc into their respective holes on every hole for a combined score. To handicap the event I have said that once the ball is inside the length of a normal putter it is considered in including aces.
Ideal is a pitch and putt course for ball golf with 14 par 3s and 4 par 4s but it is not irrigated and as a result is very difficult on the short game. This is why I feel it neccessary to hurry play along with the "inside the putter" rule. Lots of the competitors are not as accomplished at the ball aspect either so this will help to even the competition.
For a $30 entry players cover their green fees, cart, a small bucket of balls, the purse, and the ace pot.
Ideal gets $15
Ace pot - $4
Best overall score ( the winner ) - $5
Best ball score other than winner - $2
2nd best ball score otw - $1
Best disc score otw - $2
2nd best disc score otw - $1
Ideal only has 14 carts so the field is limited to 28 players. Entry must be received by Sept. 25th.
I will check this board several times to allow in people interested in playing and are not involved with the Arlington DGA, but I can say the field is already almost full. I'm also very interested in any feed back that you want to post.

Yes Bryan is correct the ADGA members have heard about my working on this event for several weeks now and I have many of them on the list of players. It is open to anyone that wants to play, though.
I should have said something about the disc course also. It is very long at 8100 ft. with many trees coming into play. Par is 58 and I believe Nolan Grider and Chris Himing share the record with 53s.

I've wanted to do a combined play event for a long time, as a matter of fact I first posted the idea on Sept. 10th, 2001 and the events of the very next day put a big dark cloud over everything for a long time.
I am very much into this event, though, and Ideal is hoping it will become a regular quarterly thing. You can't bring beer to the course, but they do sell it there so I'm anticipating a good time for everyone.
Would like to hear your thoughts.
