Sorry if there is already a similar thread, I couldn't find it.

Which disc manufacturer makes the "best" glow discs? Which discs stay brighter, longer?

Aug 19 2005, 03:44 PM
Doesn't anyone have some experiences with Glow Discs?

Ive never thown one, but I am interested in what discs glow in what colors?

I actually read about a disc that stores the glow for long enough to play a round... unfourtunityly I cant remember what it was, I will try to find it.

Any Discraft photon glow disc will last for a long time.

Discraft glow great, but Gateway glow even brighter and longer. The Innova are worthless.

DGA aren't bad, about the same as Innova, however Lightning stops glowing by the time you even get to it after the throw. I had to go back and get it the next morning from just off of the fairway.

Do any of the discs work well enough to play in the dead of night? If so, how much would I have to recharge them?

Aug 19 2005, 06:37 PM
Anyone know anything about discs that glow in different colors?

Aug 19 2005, 06:37 PM
We were playing in the dead of night, having to recharge Innova, DGA, and Lightning every throw. I didn't talk to anyone with discraft or gateway, but I would assume those are much better. The best advice I can give you is get a portable blacklight to recharge the disc just in case.

Photon glows have been the best I've played with (haven't played with the Gateway glow discs yet). You can always get a small glow wristband and tape it to your normal disc.

The Gateway and Discraft are actually easier to play with as it gets darker. The Gateway glow long enough that I can play 18 holes without needing a recharge. You can actually charge them in the sun before it goes down and they will glow long enough into the night to not need a recharge. I was experimenting with my glow Wizard and charged it in the sun and then took it out six hours later and it was still going strong. They use Strontium as the active glowing agent which tends to be a bit more expensive, but works great.

Have any of you guys tried charging glo discs with a good camera flash? It lasts for a full round easily.

Word on the NEW Gateway glow. They are the ones that say SUPERGLOW. A blacklight glow florescent light or even the LED UV flashlights will charge innova (recharge each throw) My digicam flash works ok (again, each throw, just lay everyones disc down and say Cheese. Look away when flashing or itl ruin your nightvision (not a prob with UV lights). PS. I have 1 extra Starfire CFR GLOW 175 if anybody wants for the 25$ plus 3.50 ship that I paid for it. I bought to many thinking they would wear out but the one i throw has whacked stacks of lumber and it is INVINCIBLE! Its an X-out with NO dimples (just a few tiny cosmetic dark spots. Threw in field 3 times for practice. Its the latest run SX. They are like champion teebirds with rockets in thier butt! And handle the wind like a Firebird. What else is there to ask for? They are my goto driver (too bad they are only avalible as fundrasers). :( PS if youve ever thrown one of these charged at night, it is just about imposible to lose as you will see it glowing in even the tallest/thickest shule! If you lose it in the daylight, come back with a UV at night and it will reflect the UV back at you. Glow CFR Starfires are about 40$ and only come with full color/ full disc graphics. The graphic on them makes it harder to see the glow.

We are currently out of all glow discs except Element-X's and a few E wizards.
We do have some really light weight (120g)GLOW elements and maybe some 145 wizards that are pretty fun to throw.
Our SUPERGLOW discs illuminate best and longest when charged by outdoor light, and it doesnt have to be direct sunlight.
Just put them up in your dashboard or windowsill of your house for about 30 minutes and they should glow for well over 6 hours and up to 12.
Of course its still cool to flash them for the instant brightness, but the light collected form actual sunlight will last much much longer.
We hope to run some wizards again soon and I will post here when we do. They sell out quick so if you want some kick arse glow putters I wouldnt wait too long
PS,
There are plenty of element-X's in stock right now and most are 176 and higher.

use lights. My friends and I play a crapload of nightgolf, and without a doubt taped on lights are the only way to go. Glow discs are nicve, but quite frankly I've only used them in daytime.

Hopefully I'll be firing up some nightgolf mini's here at the Z in a month or so.
