Am I just comparing Apples to Apples here, or are there signficant differences between the Roc and the Buzz?
I've only been playing since March of this year, and one of my first disc's was a DX Roc, I still have it and it's pretty beat up, I've since bought another DX Roc that is working its way into beat upness. Well a couple weeks ago I got a Z Buzz in a tournament, and a Pro D Buzz in a trade. I dont know what to do. What is the smart thing for me to do, leave the Buzzes out of my bag, carry both Buzz and Roc or switch to the Buzz? Or should I be looking completely different route ie Coyote?
TIA for help!

All the above. Throw what feels most comfortable to you and that specific situation. The grip is very important as well !!!!
Basicly , since you have some nice Disc Golf Plastic , experiment some , before you play in any tournaments.
You will see what you like the most. Oh , try the Coyote. It's a fun mid-range disc !!!!!!

I carry both in my bag. The DX Roc I carry is an older flat top version that I use for longer, narrower anhyzer throws. About 2 months ago I began throwing the Buzzz. I throw the Z and Pro D Buzzz more frequently than my Roc. To me, the Buzzz seems to be more stable and straighter. In my opinion, the Pro D Buzzz will beat in much faster than a DX Roc and can become less stable fairly quickly.
As stated earlier, throw what feels comfortable for you.
I'd just keep them both in there for now. Eventually you'll realize that you only need one of them and/or favor one over the other and end up taking the one you don't use out. .

Both are great discs. My favorite Roc is a beat to death 180g KC Roc.
However I throw Buzzz's and Wasp's.
The reason(s)
1) Buzzz's are readily avaiable and cheap in the good, candy plastic.
2) Wasp's are more overstable then even Champion Roc's so they are even better in head winds.
But throw both and figure out which one works best. But remember one thing. It is not the arrow it is the indian. Top pros throw Buzzz's and Roc's. One is not inherently better then the other.
Z buzz goes dead straight right outta da box, with a small fade at the end. Great for the skip shot. Also good for wooded courses (doesn't beat up easily). AND THEY ARE CHEAP AND PLENTIFUL!!!
DX roc, more natural hyser than the z buzz outta da box, needs to be beat in a little to get the straightest flight out of it. A stronger fade than the z buzz. but there is no disc to compare with the glide from a worn DX roc for the 300+ anhyser shot. Much less skip than a z buzz, the dx roc is better for a downhill tunnel shot when you want the disc to stop on the spot it hits the ground.
Dx when it hits a tree, generally drops to the ground near point of impact.
Z seems to take off at weird angles when it hits a tree.
hope that helps, but try them both, I carry both.
Im with u!! a very nice beat 10 time kc roc ..nothing better..it takes a few years or some drastic measures but they will beat nicely and stay there for a long time..
As for what to throw it's all about feel for a mid range..if it doesnt feel like butter than it won't fly that way either..

Hmm, where to start? I have thrown Rocs for almost 5 years and with the exception of the 04 CE Glow Roc, I don't like most of the new Rocs. Even the DX Rocs are not as sweet as the old Big Bird stamps. Wasn't it great when you could buy a 10x, a DX Big Bird and a 2001 CE and spend less than $50 total? /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
Now I have been throwing mostly Discraft and I love the 1st run Z-Wasp. I have had mine for about 2.5 years and still is a pig. The Z and X Buzzes I have a great for slight hyzers and flex mids but my favorite is the Comet. I use it in for straight shots, downwind shots and anhyzers. It gets my vote for the most underrated disc on the market. There are 2 discs on the planet that fly straighter and fade less. The Aero and the Ultrastar. That's it.
I have also seen some people do well with only Wasps. Z, X and D (the d's will beat up nice for anhyzer shots).
The main thing is get out to a short course with 3 Rocs, 3 Wasps, 3 Buzzes and 3 Comets and throw several of them per hole. No better way to figure out what you like the best.

I am lazy. I will put about 4 discs on tonight.
I throw whichever I feel more comfortable with. I know, that's not a whole lot of help, but I have found that if I throw the first disc that comes to mind when I get to my lie it works out more times than not. Every time I second guess I get in trouble.
Take your discs out to the course or a field, throw them a bunch, then feel the mojo. After a while, when you see a shot you will just know which to throw. Eventually some discs might not be getting used, then start to think about cutting them from your bag.
This is all coming from a guy who basically throws two mids and carries five or six...go figure...

Best advice so far comes from the BIG DR...........
My 2 cents:
Comfort is important. For instance, for the straight/slight turnover shot I choose the Holiday Buzzz over the X-Buzzz, it just feels better in my hand. How can you even think about throwing a QUALITY :Dgolf shot with a disc that doesn't feel right?

Easily, I tried a Coyote.
Rocs feel good, Buzzz'z feel good, Elements are sweet ... They are all awesome molds. Coyotes feel GREAT [to me]! If you are comparing Rocs and Buzzz'z you owe it to yourself to try the Coyote too. Try some different weights for more or less stability. The Coyote is called a "multi-purpose" disc, and it is exactly that. Great for [shorter} drives, mids, upshots, rollers and putts. You can eliminate a lot of bag clutter with Coyote or two.
Or, if the Roc, Element or Buzzz fit your grip/style better etc., go with one of them. You really can't go wrong by choosing one or the other or both or all -- unless you are limited by sponsorship.

Yeah, I have been wanting to try the Coyote.
I hear good things.
I recommend any mid that flies fairly slow. Buzz is fast but still a great disc. I was really disappointed with the Champion Cobra and Stingray. It is only to have a fast mid if it is overstable but if it is fast and understable, that can make for an unpredictable combination.

I gotta argue with you on the merits of the cobra. I love that disc for short turnover shots. Anhyzer less than 300 ... it's my go to disc. snap, turn, glide right to the target.

I had the chance to compare a Z Glide to a Champion Coyote about a month ago. The Coyote was a little more high speed understable than a Glide, but had more low speed fade. Thrown on about the same line, the Glide would hold the anne then just flex back to level still going to the right, while the Coyote would hold the anne and then flex back to going down hole. This was with about 20 throws of each. I have also found that these discs fly best at about 80% power. They seemed to love having extra snap/spin compared to forward velocity.
Glide is definately the correct name for the glide. That thing just keeps going. It can be pretty easily thrown 300 feet at 80-90% arm speed. Also of note, the glides profile is VERY VERY similar to an XL. I suspect the glide just has more of it's weight in it's flight plate, but who knows?
