I have heard so many stories about this DG Course.........
I plan on taking a trip to Indiana to visit my best friend and thought about stopping here.

I checked out the Course pictures at Cincinatti Dg Site hole by hole.
Just from my opinion some of the holes looked a little ridicolous. On the verge of not being "fair" to the near perfect golf shot without discernable fairways.
I know pictures can be deceiving and I was just wondering if maybe they are in this case.

I love very tough and challenging golf. But these pictures make it seem like "goofy golf". Just huck, chuck and pray. Its probably not once I see it live. I just don't know.

I would apreciate feedback from anyone who has played it.
And whether it is worth my stop to play there??

Thanks

Idlewild is a great course and it would be a good stop, you may want to post when you think you're going to be in Cincy and you may get a local to play a round with you so you don't get lost out there. There are some holes that make a man out of a disc golfer and they seem to be unfair at first but once you play it a few times you start to see the shots that pay off big and the shots that will end up taxing your game. Beware of holes 5,6,10,13L,14L their all tough holes.

Idlewild is a course every disc golfer should play at least once. I enjoyed the challenge of the course, and some of the holes were very nice. However, there are a couple of holes that just made me think "why?"

Hole 5 is a good example.. I had en excellent tee shot that went through the trees and onto the base of the hill. From there it was nearly impossible to throw up the fairway - being that it is 5 feet wide and lined with trees. I threw the only shot that had a chance to make it up the hill (from my position), a sidearm roller. The roller was on line, but only went 50 feet before smacking a tree and flopping over. From there it was another probably 200 feet through dense foliage and trees just to reach the basket.

The majority of the other holes were very well designed though. I especially liked holes 3, 7 and 10. I thought the course had a good mix of open, wooded and lightly wooded holes. Many people think of Idlewild as a distance course, because of hole 15 (1000 feet+), but it is really more of an accuracy course. Overall, Idlewild is one of the best disc golf courses I have played. The course is very well designed, but it can be frustrating (see hole 5) at times. I would suggest playing this course with a friend or local because it will take every bit of 2 hours (if not more) to play it. Also, if you are in the area - be sure to check out Banklick (only 20 mins away). Banklick was a very enjoyable course, and a nice change of pace from Idlewild. Mt Airy is another one to check out if you have time.

Those pictures are out dated as well. The place is a lot cleaner now. Great course, worth the stop.
