I throw mainly RHFH and for those tricky right turns i used to use my reliable Beast, but after using it every day for 2 months, i have just worn it down so much it has become a bit to straight for certain holes

what i was wondering is if any one has a good suggestions for a disc that will break in to something similar to a new/slighly broken in champion beast.

of course i could change the release angle, and i have been doing just that for the past week or so, but i just love testing out new discs.

ive bee thinking the monster would be better, but i dont exactly trust those online flight paths, so id like to hear from experience.

any ideas?

I use a 172 monster that works great for what you are wanting...though it will be alot more pronouced turn than the beast is.

A flick is a good forehand disc. I don't use a forehand throw much, but I found an x-clone worked well. I don't even know if they still make them.

I think the 150 Flick is a great overstable discs for dog legs and getting around stuff. Surprisingly even at such a light weight this disc retains it's overstability, doesn't flip, and stands up to wind.

ya know, i went to my guy to go buy discs yesterday, and he suggested the same thing. he is a local pro, and also sells discs, so im sure he knows what hes talking about, but i still didnt get it. maybe ill get it next week, maybe today, who knows.

so this flick is crazily overstable? i liked my beast because i could throw it just perfect and it would fly 300' around a slow curve on a fairway. ive had some luck just using less stable discs with alot of hyzer, but they just dont go nearly as far.

I love the Flick ... but it's not gonna feel like a Beast (doesn't really feel like any other disc because of the shallow rim, and flatness). If it were me, I would break in a lighter Firebird. The Firebird is going to feel more like your old Beast.

Maybe a heavier Champ Orc? Firebird would be good too. Champ Monsters are crazy overstable for me.

man, i wish i knew people who threw these.... no one i know throws orcs, monster, flick, or firebird. most of the people i play with dont have a big arm so they stick with slower discs.

i think im gonna go with either a firebird or a monster, although i dont know if i will be able to find a monster, so it will probably be down to the firebird. although, ill definatly see how the flick feels before i cross it off my list, i just wish i could actually throw it....

I have a 150 Flick, champ Firebird and max weight champ Monster in my bag. I have a wimpy arm, I just use these discs for wind (which is always a factor in the afternoons here) and for trick shots like tommies, thumbers...

Monsters and Firebirds seem to be fairly common. Is there a league in your area? Local tournaments? I am sure if you figure out a way to play with a few more players you will find someone willing to let you toss one of these great discs....

Monsters & Firebirds have poor glide -- Once they start to fade they drop out of the sky. Very tough to get any D unless you really crank em. If you want a stable to overstable forehand disc with decent glide look for an orange flattop Z-Crush.

Spirits are pretty overstable new, and are one of the fastest discs on the market. Check one out for sure.

Why would you get hit by one in the first place? Not to mention it wouldn't even come close to cutting you. Any disc could bruise, but cut? Come on now.

Only reason that was mentioned , was the Spirit does have a Sharper Rim than the TeeBird. A bit flater too !!!!!

The Rim is a bit thicker. I had thrown a friend of mine's , it hit a tree and took a huge chunk out !!! 3" by 5" !!!!!!

True !!!!!!!

No negative intent here.

Hmmmmmmm......not Mach V's ? Sorry to hear about that.

Which type of baskets do you prefer ? Mach III's ?

Those are awesome. I love the New Mach V's myself !!!!!!

How was the weather ? Was it much of a factor ?

Aug 16 2005, 01:55 AM
I think a chainstar is just a modified Mach V.

If you want it to start off as an overstable Beast then I agree that the Orc is the natural choice.

I've never played a round with you Scooter but I hear that you cost yourself between 3 and 4 strokes a match by having slammed putts bounce out. Maybe a softer putt is necessary on certain styles of poleholes?
