Anybody thrown lighter wts? I have a 172 and 175 and love em. They throw like a longer Champ tbird T. Want to try about 168 tho. Any feedback (good and bad) appreciated.
I have a 164g X-out SX. It is a longer version of my clear, domey 11X T-Bird. It is my long into the wind driver, moving the CE FX into a backup position in the bag!
Word,
Ive found the only thing that happens to mine in a stiff headwind is that it actually turns a tiny bit and gets more D than usual. Its good to hear a really light wt does too! Do you have a big arm? (are you able to turn it over slightly for bigger D?)
My 165 was one of the longest flying disc I ever had. It did seem to beat up quick though, but that is due to my love affair with trees. There wasn't a tree in Ingleside I didn't hit 2 weeks ago. Then, I accidentally turned it into a pond.
I can't decide if I want another one; my avenger seemed very similar (a tad shorter).
I dont think the Avenger has a stabilizing bead like the SF and the TB. It would seem that the Avenger would not handle headwind as well? I dunno.

A Z-Avenger will definitely handle a headwind. I recently pulled my Starfires and replaced them with Avengers. They are very similiar.
X-Avenger = Pro Line Starfire
Z-Avenger = CFR Starfire
(lighter weight Z's are similiar to a L Starfire)
Don't get me wrong, The Starfire is an awesome disc, I just find the Avenger fits my game better. :)

Are all pro Starfire SL and CFR Starfires are Sx?
All Pro Starfires are the L mold.
ALl new CFR Starfires that are made and labeled SF are the X mold
but they are also making the SL in CFR.
THe older Starfires were the original mold and were also labeled SF and when the X came out they were labeled SX i believe.. i also believe the X is just labeled SF now becuase the first mold isn't produced anymore.

I personally prefer the Starfire, the grip fits me better, its a bit wider. The Orc is still the reference though ;).
No, not a big arm; 300-350 ft for golf. The SX will only flip up straight (maybe a very slight turnover) into a strong headwind for me. I don't have off-axis torque (flutter) on my backhand, so that might play into its over stability.
yes if i were you i would go down to the lower weight and you could be throwing the sx 350-400. I can only throw max weight pro starfire's but the CFR-sx is supposed to be slightly more overstable it would be sweet once it got broke in.
INNOVA PROS-or other high arm speed Teebird tossers-
Is the champ starfire seriously comparable to the 11x Teebird in stability? I would assume it'd be a bit more high speed understable, and low speed overstable. thoughts?

I have always called my CFR starfires long range teebirds, and that's since 2003 when the first runs came out, so that would make the teebirds that I was comparing them to 11x.
I use the old mold of starfire since the new mold is a little less stable but still a good disc.

By 'Champ Starfire' are you referring to CFRs? As stated above, I would agree that an '03 CFR SF is a longer TB with similar #s for both high and low speed turns. Into a moderate to high headwind I'd choose a new 11xer over a new CFR SF...but HEY!, I'm not a big arm. :)
The Pro SFs are more TL like...not as overstable/predictable into a headwind...but even more d@mn long!!

The SX is better (longer) in a high wind than new champ or 11x (which is the same mold). I still love my birds, but thats what ive found. Only in high winds will the SX give up some turnover, which just makes em longer! (and they still end up strait). In no wind, they have close to the same hyser finish as new champ birds. But, again, a little longer. These are pushing my Firebirds right out of the nest. I think in severe headwind, the firebirds will prolly hold the line a bit better. Anybody compare those yet? I throw Pro SF for D but they can get downright exciting in high winds. Not usually in a good way, but there was this one time....
