Eric Salazar and Matt won open with -4 from the white tees. I won am with -2 from the reds. No ace was hit...next week's ace pot will be $375. Come on out next Monday and see if you can hit it. If it's not hit next week, it will carry over to The Sleeper on August 13th. We invite everyone to come be a part of the world's first sanctioned night tournament. And remember, if you pre-register, you will avoid the $10 green fee. Pre-registration is available here at the clubhouse, or online at titledisc.com.

No one hit an ace on Saturday night so tonights mini will be at $499!. No tax issues that way. :D We will cap it at that and start building a backup.
Please signup before 6pm if you can. Tee off is at 6:30pm. Everyone will be playing the RED tees tonight so there are plenty (17) of ace chances.

One question, do you have to pay green fees and entry? Just curious...
ozdisc
Aug 15 2005, 05:50 PM
The gate is open right now. Just make sure you close the inside deer gate. If the main front gate is closed just push on it. The key code is not working.
The cost to play in the mini is $10 for Pro's plus an optional ace pot. $8 of that is payout. Why would you not have to play GF and entry?
If you don't play the mini it would cost you $10 greens fees and no ace pot deal.
Did I miss something?
disctance00
Aug 15 2005, 06:12 PM
I was asking because from my understanding the greens fees are $10. I never doubted paying GF. I asked because I wouldn't drive all the way out there just to find out I had to pay $10 and $8 just to play a mini. If I missed something that's my fault. $10 for GF and a mini is cool, just wanted clarification.

That means if there's only 7 pros again, there will still only be 2 spots paid out. I will not be playing this time so that I can cook, so everyone bring your appetites. The menu will be $3 burgers and dollar dogs. Sorry Vinnie, I was unable to get the fish sticks, so you'll have to save the MD 20/20 for next time. Let me know if there's any more questions. Sanctioned events and minis aren't the same thing. Ask Moody if he pays top 1/2 at his minis. Vinnie, what would you pay at yours? If all the pros playing want top 1/2 payout, no problem. However, I think they would prefer bigger payout for those who win. Anyone else have any opinions on this matter?

No, really? Who'da thunk it?
I think what Mr. Ware is trying to say is that some of the players have a problem with the way the payout is formulated.
Here's a hint: If you want more players to attend your events, make them more attractive to a wider group of players.
BTW, the most successful (average turnout wise) monthly mini of the last several years in this part of the world, paid out based on PDGA guidelines.

I am far from a seasoned TD, so most of this is a learning experience for me. I am trying to make this someplace that people want to come play, that is why I wanted to see how people felt about it. Twin Parks is striving daily to make this a place people enjoy playing. We're all completely flexable with most things, and have no problem receving criticism if someone thinks things are askew. That being said, we also know that we can't please everyone. Until there is a general consensus requesting otherwise, the payout will remain the same. I thank you guys for your support, and I look forward to hopefully paying out that ace pot this evening. See you guys in a few hours.

Ams are top 1/2 so that would be 5 out of 11. Did the ams say anything ? if not than I guess they are happy and good job. Pros=1/3, ams=1/2. But like atwood said more you pay out the more you will intice people to come out and play. Heck the PDGA is almost paying pro=40% and ams=60% as of the beginning of this year. Thanks for doing what you do and good luck. later

Aug 23 2005, 10:36 AM
All the ams were happy. Especially Nick!! First time with the TD job all on my own...I'm still learning. Basic math tells me, though, with only $5 going towards overall for the ams, that's only $55 to split. If I payed 5 spots, they wouldn't even get enough for a disc. Anyway, sorry you couldn't make it, maybe we'll catch you at the next one.

Aug 23 2005, 11:01 AM
like they say your mini. just out of curiosity how does the $10 break down again? $5 to payout, ? to ace pot and ? green fees. maybe they lower payed players could build up a line of credit if they dont get enough for a disc. could have payed top 4 instead of 5 I was unsure on how much went into the payout. . 1=20, 2=15, 3=10,4=5 the 4th place guy could have a $5 credit. just my opinion but 3X the entry fee at a mini for a winner is plenty. just ideas to get more players out there.
hitnchains
Aug 23 2005, 11:07 AM
Thanks, all are things to consider in the future. The break down is $5 over-all, $2 green fees, and $3 ace. For the pros, green and ace are the same, but it's $8 for overall. To answer your question, Josh, Himing is no longer with us. This is why I'm getting a crash course in running tournaments.

Okay, I have a few announcements to make:
1. Monday minis will now begin at 6:15. Soon the minis will be ending after dark, so everyone start bringing lights (or buy some from us). Mondays will slowly turn into our weekly night mini. Those of you who haven't been here, we have solar lights on all the baskets, so they light up as soon as the sun goes down. We will also continue to run poker games following the Monday minis. And not to mention the Monday Night Football on our big screen! TPCC is going to be where it's at for Mondays!
2. On Thursday, Sept. 1st, we will be kicking off our random draw doubles minis. More info to come soon.
3. Wednesday, 9pm, Texas Hold 'Em at the clubhouse. No greens fees to play. Anyone with extra chips, you might want to bring them with...just in case. Cash game, $10 buy in.
That's all for now...time to go do some course work.

I enjoy playing Gimp's events and consider him a friend. I enjoy playing Himing's events and consider him a friend.
I even enjoy playing Vinnie's event(s), and consider him a good guy for disc golf.
I support all three of these guys and their events. Each of them, in their own way, is moving disc golf forward in our state, and nationally. That's a good thing.
I think TPCC has the nicest courses in our area, and I derive absolute pleasure playing disc golf there.
I support James shutting his donkey on all occassions. I support Pat's decision and right to wear the shoes of his choosing, despite the rest of us knowing that they are an inferior shoe choice
Josh is one of the good guys in our sport, as are C Ware, Efrain, and Jeff H.
Grunion's a bit unorthodox in how he goes about communicating hsi views...but at the end of the day, he's just a guy who likes to throw discs at baskets. I support and encourage that.
Mark A. is one wierd cat too, but as solid a guy as you could ever hope for to count as a friend and to have your back.
I'll play disc golf with any one (or more) of you guys any time, at any park.
Except this weekend ...I have a fantasy football draft and ball golf tournament to attend to
Thanks Robbie. I'd play golf with you too, even if you are a weird cat. :)

Whats this world coming to when people are not attacking me anymore. Thanks for not bashing me Coop.
It took awhile but I am coming around.
It got deleted by Terry, who sent me a message scolding me not to do that again.
Of course, if there's anyone who didn't get to read the bizarre happenings of yesterday by the weirdos at TPCC, just PM me, and I'll send you the original post.
Here's hoping they burn.
I guess since Atwood is still going to spread his garbage through the pm system, please pm me as well to get my response after I was unfairly drug through the mud by the esteemed Mr. Atwood...
Gimp are you causing trouble again :D
No Gimp. Although I said earlier this morning I would, I haven't. Further, I'm not going to.

Strange as it may sound, I'd even step in to defend you, if you had asked and needed the help, and I don't particularly even like you. :)
But you can all rest easy now. I'm back to being the easily dismissed delusional bad guy, so the pressure's off the rest of you.

Sorry for the confusion. who I was speaking of are the folks that run Twin Parks (given that I have the accurate info). Seems like they handled the situation like a bunch of 5 year olds. But what do I know? I just read about it.
Gimp, I am way up in North Texas and only know what I read in the PM. I don't know what was true (in regards to you) and I made no judgements toward you or Mark.
First of all Gimp, I said I wasn't going to PM that to anyone and I didn't. I don't lie.
Danny got it, so whatever, but not from me.
And Pat Brenner, it'd be a real good idea for you to start watching your tone when you're referring to me. I've had about enough of your mouth. We clear?

If you think about it Mark, he did get it from you, you wrote it. People saved it to there hardrive and are passing it along, every time somebody reads what you wrote it is the same as you sending it to them yourself.

The mini payouts are not conducive to attracting more players to make that long of a drive on any kind of regular basis. You'll never make that work and you should stop being stubborn when you ask for advice and try some that's offered by people with a lot more experience than yourself.

I can play poker for free? J/K! :D
I would like to state for the record that everything I posted regarding TPCC was out of my own anger and my own problems with anger management.
I have no basis in fact for any of the disparaging remarks I made about Park, Corey, Gimp, Park's dad or Kacie. Nothing I said about the activities there which I never witnessed was based in any truth.
What happened between Park and a business associate was just business and had nothing to do with me.
Chris never asked me to post anything about any of it, and I feel I betrayed the freindship of a good man who's done a lot for the disc golf community and the charity and the players he loves.
It was all a mistake and the mistake was completely mine, and no one else's.
Park runs a clean business and Chris and he had a viable partnership that benefitted both busineses and both individuals.
What I did was wrong and I regret it.
My sincerest wish is that none of this will be a reflection on anyone but me, and to any and all of the people who's lives and businesses I damaged you have my deepest, heartfelt apologies.
Sincrely,
Mark Allan Atwood
Wow,........interesting.
I know the truth and I support TPCC. Thats all I am going to say. Park is one cool Cat. They treat everyone like family.
Look forward to another day at TPCC. The theme is what YOU make of it. Park, I will never forget the first time I visited. They go the extra mile and really treat you like they have known you all your life. You dont see that often and thats what sticks in my head. True southern hospitality. WOW!

Thank you, Mark. I hope we can all move on now. It's unfortunate the way things have unfolded. It's important that everyone learn from their mistakes, and TPCC has learned from ours. Chris will continue on with his full list of tournaments planned, and TPCC will continue to offer the best disc golf experience we can, as well as all the other alternative sports and venues we have planned for the coming year. Thank you Grunion, and all of you who have shown your support through PMs and e-mail, and just by coming out and enjoying our courses. Mark, your apology is accepted. Entry fees are $5 +$5 ace for the ams, and $8 +$5 ace for the pros. That's $10 and $13. Ace pot is at $500, everyone is shooting from the white tees. I have plenty of food and cold beer available afterwards.
In addition, on the second Sunday of every month, we have random doubles on Park Hill. Cut-off is at 2pm.
We have a lot of things in the works, so check in from time to time on our website, and I should have some dates posted soon.

This last one had 12 people. Of course, we really haven't done much to push them, yet. I wanna double that number next month.

Just a reminder that this Sunday, February 11th, is the 3rd Winter Ranch Mini out at Twin Parks Country Club in Dripping Springs. To get there, take Hwy 290 West. After crossing into Hays County but before you get all the way to Dripping Springs proper, turn left on Hays Country Acres Rd. The address is 1111 Hays Country Acres Rd. Enter the main gate and take an immediate right (please be sure to close the 2nd gate behind you), and follow the road to the clubhouse.
If you have a Twin Parks CC free day pass (these were in players packs at recent club tournaments), you can use it in place of the $5 greens fee.
As a special treat, an alternate 9 holes has been set up, near the main house I think. In the morning, everyone will play the Shire course. After lunch, everyone will play twice around the new 9-hole course. The Hill course wont be played at all this time.
These same 9 holes will be used at the Huck Fest tournament in a few more weeks, so this is a great chance to come practice them.
Hope to see you there,
Gordon

For the Shire course:
Pro/Advance-blue, Intermediate-white, Rec/Women-red
For the new 9-hole course, I don't think there are multiple boxes at this time.
