Well, here's a little story. Today, as a precursor to tomorrow's C-Tier, we had a Partners Best Doubles. My girlfriend and I played in mixed doubles. We started on hole 18. It was an uneventful first 12 holes. 1 bogey, 11 pars. We finish marking our 3s on hole numbered 11(12th hole) and hand the card off to the other team. Cristin steps to the tee on hole 1A (the 6 holes to make 24 fall between 11 and 12) and rips a nice drive about 200 feet into the center of the fairway. The hole is 260 feet that you stare through the crotch of a split birtch tree at where you know the basket is but can't be seen. Knowing that par was a simple shot from where she landed, I decided that running at it for a birdie was the way to go. It's not a forgiving hole for an overshot as, although it's 260 feet straight, it's about a 40-50 foot drop in elevation. Rather than throw a midrange like my common sense told me I should, I pulled a crush out. I ripped a dead flat straight shot at the split in the trees. Figuring an easy birdie from where it was gonna stop, I turn away. We hear the crash of the chains and I turn around. I looked down but couldn't see the basket or the disc. I hear a congratulations from one of the other people on my card, but respond with 'We don't know it stayed in'. Just then I hear MILLZ(yes Millz was on the card in front of me) yell back `Don't worry, it stayed in`. Incredible. There was no ace pool today, but a lot of people gave me a dollar at the awards ceremony. I used the money to buy cristin(who parked the upshot on 18 of the 24 holes) a 150 class flick.
We finished second, shooting an even par on the course. My ace on hole 1A is the only known ace on the hole.

Congrats! It's a fantastic feeling - acing in a tourney. It's only one less stroke than the two you would get from parking it, but the feeling is exhilarating.
Here's to many more!

I feel the pain from the name thing. My name is Kris. Used to hate it because it was a more common way to spell Kristen then Kristopher. But now I like my uncommon spelling of my name. I am sure your girlfriend feels the same.
BACK TO THE THREAD
Congrads on your first Ace. Mine too came in a tournament. I was the first on the box of the very first hole of the first round of the tournament. ~330ft, with a large Oak blocking a hyzer skip to the basket. My disc skipped early just before the tree, but hit a root, changed direction and skipped into the basket. But I got the Ace curse and got stuck in a tree >2m on the very next hole and took a circle 5! At least I had the ace to keep me at even.
Great job. You will probably get another one soon. My second came two weeks after my first.

Congrats Pat. I'll send you a buck with whatever discs we end up trading. :)

I had 3 aces prior to that. It just felt a lot better hitting one in an event(unsanctioned though). Final Ace I need is a sanctioned tourney ace.
(I have no problem with people botching my name.... after 25 years of having it misspelled almost all the time, i'm just happy when i don't get called Christine)
Pat's ace really was a doozy, and was definitly the high point of the day. It's a great thing to be able to witness an event like that. And yeah, it was a pity that there wasn't an ace pool that day, but the ace itself was such a wonderful thing, cash would've just added to the deserved adrenaline overload. Now i guess it's my turn.... but please, no body hold their breath.... it'll be a while!
