Everyone is giving Nate no respect he will win more than 4 more. You all will be proven wrong.
nate is obviously the REAL DEAL. to lead worlds from start to finish is absolutley incredible. did anyone mention he's only 20 years old? and he even throws the darkside!! :Dj/k he'd be good with dixie plates.

Now are we talking worlds cause lets be honest it is hard to win worlds and i will need to catch some of the action on the dvd next year then i will make my answer known. Also where is he from i talked to a few people know one knew they said he might be from the east coast some where.
It seems to me that there is more parity in the sport then ever before , only time will tell if we have another champion that can come back every year and repeat Nate is very good but so is everyone else that cashed this year .

Although Nate did lead the majority of the way, he didn't lead all the way. Barry took the lead after the 5th round, Nate tied it up after the 6th, and regain the lead in the 7th.
I've had the pleasure of meeting and playing with Nate multiple times. He's a great guy and we're all glad to see him do well. Congrats Nate!!!!

Only MTL would ask a yes/no question and provide numbers for responses.
Golf, both regular and stick, is a very fickled and unpredictable sport.
Both come down sometimes to a matter of millimeters and also a little luck every once in awhile. If you are off by just a smidgeon in your release or timing then your score can escalate to extremes. And if your mental game slips your overall game usually will slip. Just ask Tiger Woods about the 3 years preceding this year.
Anyway, this kid is awesome for this sport. But with the increasing competition each year and the new breed of players coming up in the pipeline its hard to comment whether he will get 4 or more in his career.
He might win 7 or 8 more but he might easily never win another one with so many great players in DG.
In the last 5 years I do not see any dominant players in DG like Tiger has done since '97.
The last player to be "Tigeresque" was Climo in the 90's.
Actually, maybe we should say Tiger has been
" Climoesque" in his relatively young career :D

Not trying to hack on Nate at all here... but what?!?!?
Obviously the real deal? How is it obvious?
He did not lead from start to finish. Feldberg led for a bit.
Also he won about 4 times in the last 3 years... none higher than a B-tier. He had a very good week.
Ron Russel won worlds along with numerous NT events and countless Supertours yet never won another worlds or a major. Cam Todd won loads of Supertours and a worlds, but no repeats or other majors. These guys were the 'real deal' but couldn't pull repeats.
There are two 'real deals' of disc golf.... Climo and Schultz.
Congrats to Nate but I'll need to see more before I start predicting how many worlds and USDGC titles he will have. For now he's got one... more than most.

First off Zach. You say your a college student so learn to spell. Second off Doss did win this year throwing Discraft but sadly the word on the street is that he will be throwing Innova by the end of the year. Lastly. Schultz, Climo and Innova are the dominates forces right now but hopefully in years to come Discraft will have as many touring players as Innova does. Untill that day Innova will dominate not because they have better plastic but because they have more touring pros. I just wish that some of the great Discraft pros would have some loyalty and stick around.
Can any of the pros that have switched shed light on why they made the switch???
Congrats Nate and hopefully you stay throwing Discraft!!!

Never really won anything big... couple supertours with no Climo or Schultz... No top tens at majors.
Hoping to make a bigger impact in a couple years when I hit masters age.

No kidding?
Nate is gonna switch?
With all the team switching over the years it seems to go like this....
Player plays for Team(x) for a while and has some nice success. Player decides that he/she deserves more/better sponsorship. Sponsor isn't willing to give more. Player switches to other team for a better deal. Deal usually isn't that much better.
McCoy is the only player I know of that switched for a more idealogical reason. Most are just going for the BBD.

Thats not for sure. Just what I have heard from a few people. I hope its not true because Discraft needs some more touring pros :D

This is also what I have heard. Ive also heard that sometimes the deal is worse  I wish Discraft would get some more touring pros.

I agree with you on this one. Switched for personal moral reasons, not because he wanted a better deal.

I said Russel was a real deal player even though he didn't repeat. Also gave props to Cam... he won worlds with Innova.
You made the Innova discraft connection ... not me.
Whatever they Throw... Climo/Schultz are on the top rung, Todd/Russel just below, Doss hits level three with plenty of potential for moving up.

I hadn't heard any switching rumors until just now.
I'd be surprised tho.
Nate was sort of coached and brought up by Harold Hampton, Roger Cansellor, and the Ricos... all primarily discraft players at the time (Stevie is debatable). I think Harold now throws for gateway. I would be less surprised to see him switch to gateway. I would be very surprised if he switched to Innova... He may get his own disc with Innova but I'm sure Discraft would offer the same thing... wouldn't they?

I think it has some thing to do with prestige. Discraft is call the darks side for gods sake, must disc golfers relate a champion in this sport to Innova with no small thanks to Climo or Schultz, while Discraft is the company that every one leave once they get good.

Prestige, perhaps.
Not all left.
Russell has always been a die hard Discraft player... even to the point of being negative toward Innova. Cam won with Innova and switched to Discraft. Goes both ways.
It's just a perception thing. Innova has a pretty long successful history in disc golf. Climo did a lot for the Innova name. Schultz continues to keep the name in good standing.
For the most part... the innova guys (and gals) are bunch of very cool and easy to get along with players (and business people).
Discraft refered to as 'dark side' isn't something that I ever hear.
I started playing disc golf here in Michigan... using all discraft... even shooting rounds with Jim Kenner. Innova offered sponsorship to me and Discraft didn't. That's the reason I started throwing Innova. I don't particularly think any companies discs are better than anyone elses... it just depends on how you throw them. I do like my Innova family and would never leave them tho.

I sure hope they do. I just heard that he wasnt happy with the way he was being treated. Then I heard from someone else who had talk to him that he was going to switch. I sure hope its just a rumor and not true but with all the switching that has been going on I wouldnt be surprised. Id love to see him stay with Discraft and Rico come back to Discraft (if they would ever take him back) but who knows. I think in years to come Discraft will gain some touring pros and maybe there will actually be some battles between the 2 companies but right now the only one winning anything big are the Innova boys because they are pretty much the only ones on tour right now. (or atleast they have the most players on tour) Discraft right now has Doss and Middlecamp as far as I know that are seriously touring. Innova has. Schwebby, Feldburg, Jenkins, McCoy, Hatfield, Boobs, Hammock, Climo, Schultz just to name a few. So that odds are really stacked against Discraft in terms of winning anything big.
Next year Ill be going on tour and throwing Discraft whether im sponsored or not. I throw it because I like the plastic and it works. Not because I want to be sponsored. Sure it would be nice but if it doesnt happen I wont stop throwing Discraft. It would just be nice to go on tour and have some Discraft guys out there as well.
Dont get me wrong the Innova guys are great and I attribute alot of my succes to lessons and tips from Climo Hammock Feldburg and Jenkins but I would like to see some Discraft Superpros hit the National Tour scene as well.
Congrats to Nate and Discraft on their victory and I hope Nate stays with Discraft for years to come.

This I agree with completely. Had Dave Feldburg, Avery Jenking and Brad Hammock not taken time out of their day to teach my how to putt I would never have been able to get to where I am now and If Climo hadnt taken time out to help me with my grip my drives would not be as accurate as they are now (except for this past weekend :D). They took time out of their schedule to help me. A trash talking loud mouth am and I have alot of respect for those guys and I think they are some of the greatest guys in the sport. Im always pulling for all of them to do well. I dont care that they throw Innova. Sure I may talk some smack about it once in a while but its all in good fun. If Kenny had won his 11 World Championships with Discraft the tables may be turned but in the end Hero is right. Its all about the fun and love of the game. Throw what you like and what works for you whether its Gateway Innova Discraft or heck even Lightning has a couple decents discs  In the end the good golfers will be the good golfers no matter what they throw. And in the end players will be players and friends and people no matter what they throw.
It just so happens that most of the dominate players right now throw Innova. Who cares. I just hope Discraft gets some up and coming guys that go on tour and in a few years give the Innova guys a run for their money :D

Touring today is much tougher than when I did it.
When it was Schack, Feldberg, Jenkins, and I out there gas was only $1 a gallon and ate up most of the money. Can't even imagine paying more than double that. Plus we were about the only ones touring around so the competition wasn't as hard.
You would need some better sponsor support these days to make it on tour.... or play so well that you are making good money. Good luck to anyone who gives it a shot... I'll do what I can to help you when you are in my area (whatever discs you throw) but know going in that it will be a big challenge to make ends meet.

Nate Doss Is a very good golfer who deserves all the respect in the world for accomplishing what he did.(no easy feat) I'm sure when Barry took the lead it did nothing but fire him up more to get the lead and win. True Champion for 2005.

Doss is a phenominal player and it is so great to see someone other than the usual picks step up and win. truth be said, eventually barry and climo will get old and then there will be someone of a younger generation to come and dominate. the sport is so young, kenny and then barry were the first ones to be the true dominators. nates a good player and has the potential to be a dominator, but only time will tell. but he isnt the only young one out there with that potential, i can think of a few others.

That's amazing that two guys 20 and 17 got 1st and a tie for 2nd - Wow. Especially how Nate just hung in the lead or close to it the whole time - I kept thinking the pressure of Barry and Kenny would get to him. It's really amazing what he did and I hope he is enjoying the moment still. I hope he can win another Worlds or a USDGC but I think Branch makes a good point in saying how tough that is. As far as anyone surpassing Kenny's (The Champ) accomplishments, I'll believe it when I see it.
