Just got a 172 Champ Monster. Holy crap this thing is stable. I throw it as hard as I can forehand not caring about technique and it doesn't even think about flipping. When it dies tho, it just kinda drops.
Will I get some glide on the fade when it wears in a little? Maybe I shouda got a firebird?

Monster is a good overstable disc but if you are looking for glide, get a Z-Predator.

I use to own a Monster and it still to this day is the most overstable disc I have touched. It just didn't find a spot in my bag. Firebird seems a better choice to me for overstable discs.

Its not even CLOSE to true. Is the Speed Demon the most overstable disc out? Yeah, In my opinion, but to say that it turns a Monster into a Leopard is just ignorant. I have thrown all the discs listed above and both are more overstable than the Monster, I dont disagree with that. Its still a seriously overstable disc.

Monster good disc but everyone will hate me for this predator for me is more stable but monster is more predictable it just depends how you throw. people pimpn the z-xtreme it is stable but if you throw 2 finger throw a 2.5 Flick it has to be the farthest flying disc for a 2 finger sidearm throw.

Wow Chase...didn't you see the smiley icon I sarcastically put after that!? I know it doesn't make Monsters look like Leopards, I was only joking! Dang. :D

Heavy, Heavy Use.

I think the Spirits are beefier than any Innova disc, just like the Speed Demon.

The Evolution Speed Demon is the most overstable disc made right now.. and compared to a brand new 175 Champion Monster it is Way more overstable. I know becuase i own both and the Speed demon to me is way to overstable for any shot i can think of at any course i've played. The champion monster i like much more for a true overstable disc, but it does seem just Stable compared to a Speed demon.

a Speed demon is That stable that it makes many other discs look close to straight fliers.

Have you monster throwers replaced your firebirds with it? Ive found the SF SX to fight headwind great also. In fact, they only slightly turn over and get more D in headwinds. Firebirds do to but not nearly as long. Ive only been able to test in 15-20mph headwinds tho...... Anybody throw the SX?

I got an H speed demon a couple months ago, and it's already understable at high speeds. Granted I hit a ton of trees w/ it cause I didn't expect it to fade as soon as it did. Plus I didn't really like the feel of it in the first place, whereas I have gotten very used to the feel of the Beast & Orc, which is why I got a monster.

Back to my original question: Right now, it's more of a fall than a glide when it makes the turn. With some proper beating, will this thing turn a corner and go?

Yes. I encourage more people to do this.

What wts should I get? Im doing 175 and 170 in candy firebirds. Was hoping it would do some mad anny to hyser swings around stuff. Bet it monster skips too.

Aug 02 2005, 02:22 PM
<--- Hates the monster. But does understand that he is a sissy arm who plays at elevation.

I do own a Monster though. I have no idea where it is. Maybe I will resurrect it for fun. Now all we need is a lightning storm and two small bolts...

I only throw Firebirds for tomahawks and Monsters for all backhand and forehand shots. Favorite disc has been for about 2 years now. I only throw the Pro Line ones though

I just recently switched from firebirds to monsters for my main driver. I have always thrown both, and will continue to throw both. You can put a ton of snap on monsters and get them up on their side and they will go straight longer than a firebird. I have recently started breaking the 400 ft mark with light champ monsters and pro line monsters, and they can be thrown into the fiercest headwind and stay straight until they land.

Aug 04 2005, 04:59 PM
^^^Must have a huge arm. :D

I guess I should have bought a lighter one. Mine is a 172 and I can't get it to fly straight for more than 200', then it fades HARD. For reference, I max out at 350' with a 166 pro orc (not at all beat and hopefully stays that way).
Last night I took the monster out and threw it directly at some trees and at the gravel driveway from a few feet away. Hopefully this will flatten it out a bit. But I think it will make a good trick disc...which is the reason I bought it.

You can really throw a Monster over 400'?

Aug 04 2005, 07:22 PM
yeah, 400 feet with a monster? Those must be some freakish light and broken in Monsters! My champ 173 Monster refuses to get even to 200. I nearly threw my arm out trying.
