I just realized today (on my first drive at noon league) that my Pro TL is no longer a straight flier. It now is understable. I am not sure when this happened, but alas it has. It was a great realization for a few right turning holes though, but here is my question....

I have a CFR TL. It is too overstable for what I want out of it. I bought the Pro TL to be a little less overstable. Something to finish straight to right. The Pro TL beat in too quickly for this niche in my bag. Now I need something between the beat Pro TL and the CFR TL. Would I be okay getting a Pro Teebird? Does it beat into that niche? I had a champion KC 11x Teebird (lost to a tree) that seemed too overstable too. Should I try another champion Teebird?

Or what about the DX teebird?

As a note, I love how this TL flies now...it is in the bag unless it gets beat worse than it is....

If the CFR TL is to stable I would recomend the sidewinder,I know people on here call it a roller but for someone who has trouble with discs hooking left RHBH its a pretty straight flyer with a lot of glide and can be replaced with heavier weights as you gain more power.

I have a 175 Sidewinder, but that isn't quite what I am looking for. The Sidewinder does not avoid the high speed turn like a TL. When my Pro TL was new, it avoided the high speed turn, and didn't fade at the end. I also love the Teebird feel in my hand.

I guess what I want is something that flies like my Pro TL did when it was brand new, but will stay that way for longer.

A lighter Sidewinder will.
What about a Millenium Orion?

well then, you can do what I had to do to my CE Roc,take your CFR TL and throw it into a imoveable object a hundred or so times, maybe less with the newer champion plastic, and it should be beat in just right and stay that way for a long time. My Roc had that nasty hook on the end but now its just so straight right to the ground.

CE TL - Throw Hard Flat : Flies straight with a slight left Fade !

Pro TL - Throw with some Hyzer : Flips up flat , glides straight

Champion T-Bird : Throw hard Flat : Flies stable , glides left !!!!

Tee Birds are Awesome Disc's when Thrown correctly !!!!!!! /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Try a early run QJLS. That will solve your problems if your looking for a strait disc. IMO, Sidewinders are unpredictable, and if a opaque QJLS doesnt do the trick, get a later run "Cloudy / Clear" QJLS. They are about the same as the Champion TLs, with better control.

I have to agree with 20460chase on that one.. if you want something like a TL but not as stable as an 11x teebird or champ teebird get a QJLS in opaque plastic preferably.. They are very nice and hold an amazing line... My brother throws them and absolutely loves them.. I used to have them and liked them as well, but I like to stick to just 11x teebirds now.

I found that the regular Pro Teebird beat in much faster than the Pro TL. It also got more high speed understable but faded more. If you like Teebirds and haven't tried the DX then I think that would be the next logical thing to try. They're cheap, too so you can buy a couple in different weights for the price of one Champion Teebird. They may act more overstable than you really want at first, but they get really straight after they beat in a bit.

I'll admit that the first disc I thought of was the QJLS, though. The Z XL might work, too. If you're feeling adventerous you could try out the Ching! Velocity.

I highly recommend the DX Teebird. I have two. The newer one is obviously a little more overstable, but the older one is straight straight straight. They are old and have hit many many trees but still seem to fly straight.

Champion Leopard is another terrific straight flyer.

I've been throwing Pro TLs and have noticed, like with the other pro discs i've been throwing, after those first couple flight-path-changing-tree-smacks... they stay that way for while. they are pretty slow and understable, but super glidey!

if you like the pro plastic (i do!)... i recommend a pro starfire. once it's a little beat in it has a slight high speed turn and a little fade... nothing too extreme in either direction. a very similar line to when my pro TL was new. they are faster than TLs, too, and still glidey.

DX tee-birds are awsome, as well. I started getting the hang of one and it goes as far as anything else in my bag. I just hate hitting trees with DX, though... at least pro line won't taco (just get gouged occasionally)

I feel your pain. The TL was by far the best disc i have ever thrown, and in my opinion i dont believe i ill ever find anything quite like it. Many people suggested a Z XL to me, and i plan on getting it, but in the meantime, i have learned to use the discs i have, which i think has helped my game a lot. i used to think only my TL could be used for those straight shots, but now i just throw my Champ leopard a little more to the left (RHFH), or throw my beat cheeta for something more understable. Neither go quite as far, but i never liked the feel of flimsy pro plastic, so that kinda makes up for it. and on the courses i usually play, drives arent that important, because whether i get it 40 feet from the basket or 150, its still gonna take one up shot, and one putt, so i dont stress about it to much. i say try an Z XL, but dont expect anything to fly as amazing as the new TL.

I threw a Pro Starfire that was slightly broken in last night at league. It seemed about what I was looking for. I will try some of the other suggestions though...Thanks for the help peeps.

I got to throw a really old TL on Wednesday this week along with a Starfire later ,too... The TL was unmatchable for speed & glide! I'd say the starfire is the closest thing to it.

Get a stack of doublestamped CFR Glo-TLs and a bottle of acetone /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
Zonedriven.com also has X-out CFR TLs for $11 - thats a real bargain. You may want to ask them if they have any Glo-TLs left. ;)
