I have been talking with the resort and the weekend I wanted to use is being used by a church group. I felt like this could be like mixing oil and water and we want the WHOLE resort.
It looks like the weekend of choice would be November 12th and 13th. The average temps for this time of year in Jasper is an average high of 58 and an average low of 38.
While the weather may be a factor, if it is closer to the high average the temps would be perfect for walking that huge course.
There are 13 cabins and 75 pillows available.
3 cabins sleep 7
6 cabins sleeps 6
2 cabins with queen, twin and sleeper sofa
2 cabins with queen and let down sofa.
I am trying to block off the entire resort for disc golf only and try to have more food available to eat this time. I will have more details very soon, including pricing for the cabins. So start making your plans and get with who you would like to share cabins with and I will put it together for Novemeber 12th & 13th. :D

Sorry, but there is not a weekend out there that will not conflict with a tournamnet some where, I just had to pick one. At least this weekend doesn't conflict with the VPO and the only thing I see in your area for the weekend of the 12th/13th is the Tex 10 Charity Cup.
I just figured all players will end up where they want to be for that weekend. :D

The original dates of November 12th & 13th will not take place as the resort made a mistake and that weekend will not accomodate the number of people we are planning on having.
They are working with us to fix the problem, as soon as I have it nailed down (by the end of this week) I will let everyone know what is going on.
Thanks

All righty, its OFFICIAL , The horseshoe canyon weekend will take place on October 22nd and 23rd. We will be arriving on Friday the 21st. I have already reserved my cabins and some others and there are more cabins/beds available.
The cost of a cabin is $65 per night including taxes, so your looking at $130 for a cabin for the whole weekend ans snice some of them sleep 6 or 7 that breaks the cost down to $19 per person for the entire weekend. It doesn't get better any better than that, espicially for the views and quiet that Horseshoe offers.
I have also been assured that there will be plenty of food, at least for breakfast and lunch. We are on our own for dinner.
Breakfast and lunch can be purchased for $5 per person per meal at the ranch.
The cabin break down is something like this and I hope I get this right,
there are a total of 13 cabins and 75 available pillows.
3- cabins that sleep 6 to 7 (1 already rented)
6 cabins that sleep 6 ( they have a queen and 4 twins upstairs and 4 of those have been rented.)
2 cabins with a queen, 1 twin and a sleeper sofa
2 cabins with a queen and a sleeper sofa.
If you only need a bed, then get with your buddies and get enough people for cabin but do it now.
There is also the tee-pee that will sleep as many as it can hold for $5 per person and preparations are being made for overflow into the bunkhouse. The tee-pee could be a great choice as the weather will be perfect for camping.
The contact number for reservations is 1-800-480-9635 please keep in mind that they will charge your credit card immediately after you reserve your room. If you have not been here and only heard about it from last year and you need to convince yourself or your significant other then go to:
http://www.gohcr.com/index.html
I would strongly recomend that if you plan on going this fall that you get your room reservations done NOW , as this trip completley filled last year with standing room only.
By moving the dates to October we will be arriving right during the fall foliage change, so bring you camera and don't forget to buy beer in Fayetteville before you get to the canyon, its a dry county.
Getch your rooms and/or beds reservations made as this is going to be another wekend to remember. :D

Don't worry Dave. Unlike life insurance that goes up in price as you get older, the price of viagra basically stays the same. :)
So we are certain the dates are October 22nd and October 23rd?
The cost of a cabin is $65 per night including taxes, so your looking at $130 for a cabin for the whole weekend ans snice some of them sleep 6 or 7 that breaks the cost down to $19 per person for the entire weekend.
But that's only if you get the bigger cabins and it sounds like you already have them all. :( So it will cost some of us more than $19.00 per person.
What happens when the cabins fill up and tee-pee's are full? /msgboard/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

Jul 28 2005, 03:49 PM
Last time I originally rented a 4 person cabin. Then I went back and changed it to a 6-7 person cabin. The price for both was $65 a night which I thought was a good deal no matter which one you got. The larger cabin had one queen downstairs and the other sleeping area was in an open loft upstairs. Be advised that if someone in your group snores like Naegele, make sure you get dibb's on the downstairs room. It has a door that you can close. ;)

I didn't rent all of the big cabins, and I saw a post on the fayetteville thread earlier that said as of today 8 of the total 13 are rented. I have told people just get get your cabin and then work out who gets to sleep in it. It is up to each individual that rents a cabin if they choose to let any one else into it.
Its just relative to what your willing in incur on costs.
If all of the cabins fill, then there is the Tee-pee, which can sleep quite a few, then there is one half of the bunk house that is used during the regular season for the ranch hands. I heard it was comfortable enough last year. Plus there is a couch down stairs in the main lodge where the pool table is.
Other than that there is a beautifull spot to camp right there and the weather will be perfect for camping.
I can't urge you strongly enough that if you want a cabin do it NOW!
If you plan on camping, call the 800# and ask them about it., or let me know and I will contact Barry directly at the ranch.
Its all good Barb, if your comming, we'll make it work. :D
But decide quickly.
and bring the video or camera, you'll be bvery busy using it. :D
Twoputt, we have reserved ourselves a cabin and we have a couple from TX coming with us and perhaps another TX couple. So we should be able to fill up our cabin.
This is going to be FUN :)

I just got off the phone with the Canyon. There is one cabin left that has a double and a let down sofa. The Tee-pee is rented but they will be using the loft in the barn for over fill at $5 per person. There are also 12 primitve camp sites for tents that are $5 per person and I'm sure the camping weather will be fantastic in October. Plus with all of the other golfers with rooms, I'm sure hot showers can be had.
Get your plans together for this one, its going to be one he11 of a weekend. :D

That is the beauty of this weekened. NOTHING is sanctioned.
Poker is a given for Friday And Saturday night in the lodge.
As for disc golf, we are thinking maybe Dubs or trips on Saturday, some singles on the short course and some night golf for the die hards on the short course.
Sunday would be flex times, meaning when you drag your azzzz out of bed Sunday morning and get yourself together, find a card and go play.
If you have suggestions for a golf format, let me know. The only thing I don't want is a regimented weekend. I want everyone to enjoy a relaxing weekend, with no firm tee times.

Here are your official top ten reasons trick or treating for halloween is better than sex.
10. You're guaranteed to get at least a little something in the sack.
9. Once you've done it, you don't have to wait an hour to do it again.
8. The uglier you look, the more likely you'll get some.
7. You don't have to make small talk with the person who gives you the treat.
6. The person giving it to you isn't fantasizing that you are someone else.
5. If you get a stomach ache, it won't last for 9 months.
4. If you wear a mask, no one thinks you're kinky.
3. It doesn't matter if the kids hear you moaning and groaning.
2. You don't have to call the person that gave it to you.
And the ..1 reason trick-or- treating is better than sex.......
1. If you don't get what you want, you can always go next door!!
FurDog, about 9 out of ten of these apply to you on a regular basis. :D

I really enjoyed playing mix doubles on Saturday at the Canyon. It was lots of fun. Thanks for letting Heath and I join in. I am glad to have met some new ladies that play. I am sorry us ladies did not get together and play round. Playing single on Sunday kicked my butt.
I am sorry the ladies didn't play together either. I might not have felt as defeated. Next year for sure!!
What a beautiful place!
Howled at the moon a few times.
I loved sitting on the porch watching (or listening) to the guys play night golf on Saturday night. It was quite a sight. I can only imagine what things they may have run into, stepped in and scared off. (maybe a few rock climbers...) :D

Sorry dude but there were no golf carts available at the canyon. There were horses, sheep, and pigs though. I can't believe he got them all to fit in the hot tub. /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

ha ha ha....I guess if someone asked Terrill, "Just how big are those cabins?" He would have to tell them in terms of numbers of sheep! :D

I loved sitting on the porch watching (or listening) to the guys play night golf on Saturday night. It was quite a sight. I can only imagine what things they may have run into, stepped in and scared off. (maybe a few rock climbers...) :D

The Northwest Arkansas Disc Golf Association cordially invites you to participate in Ice Bowl 2006
The Date- Saturday February 18, 2006
The Place- Horseshoe Canyon- outside of Jasper, Arkansas
The Time- Sometime that morning
The Christian Food Room, in Jasper, will again be the recipient of all donations. We raised $2,000.00 for them last year, and we'd like to surpass that this year.
Just like last year there will be a silent auction, mulligans, a great Saturday night meal cooked by Fish's folks, poker, and a bunch of great disc golf.
Mark your calendars and get ready for Ice Bowl 2006- Arky Style

Right on, sounds like your juggling multiple things this weekend...Have a Happy Halloween!
Thanks Jeff.... :D
I've already called for cabins for my family and the Wilkinson's. too much fun.
I have time to work on my distance and throwing with a 2x4 at the end of the tee box......I was very intimidated by that, I tend to come off the end tee box. A habit I need to break, before I break something....
