Here is the question...I've been playing dg for 6years, after 3 years my best placement was 4th in advanced. Follwing my local peers I moved into open, since then I've placed last or second to last in every tourney. currently, due to local environmental concerns, there is no local course for me to play. so consequently I play about once per week at a natural objects course. so...with my consistent showings at tourneys, and lack of practice time or location to do so, is it ok for me to move back to advanced until my game improves. As a sidenote, this isn't griping about not winning, in all the tourneys I wouldn't have placed in advanced either.

Well as long as you have not accepted cash in a sanctioned event then you are allowed to move back down. (If you did ever accept cash, your player rating must be below 955).
Personally I think your first mistake was moving up due to your peers, either moving up themselves and you followed, or them forcing/pressuring you to move up. Only move to open when YOU are ready. My best advanced finish is 2nd, and nearly won another event but my mental game went cruddy and I finished 6th! Yikes! I will be moving up in Janurary but that is because I choose to, and have a strict practice regiment to help me get up to that next level.
Go ahead and move back down. There is nothing wrong with admitting where your competitive level is. If you are an advanced player, then play advanced. Don't play in a division where you cannot compete. I might be getting my butt whooped in Open, but it will be the consequence I take for my actions, but I feel it will make me a better player in the long run. And in the long run I want to become a 1000 rated player.
Best of luck, and most importantly, enjoy the game. Because even if you are losing, it is not worth it if you are not having fun. Remember, a bad day at disc golf is better then a good day at work.
