Just like the title says. I am only throwing my drivers about 30ft further than my Roc and MRV. I am getting my mids about 300 and driver is only going about 330. I throw a CE Eagle at 174. My Roc is 176. I feel like I am not really ripping the drivers very well.

How can I focus on getting more acceleration to the release instead of through the pull across my chest?

Check this site out. It is hands down the best place to find info about every aspect of the game.

Your Eagle is 1g less than max
Your Roc is 4g less then max

If you really like the Eagle, try one about 170g. Your current one is probably too overstable and fading too hard losing distance.

My advice is dont worry about it. I only throw my drivers about 50 ft past my mids. Mids out to about 370 and drivers out to about 420 (straight line shots with fade at end) If I S My drivers I can get them out to 450 on the course and over 500 in a field but thats a different story.

If you can throw your mids 300 and your drivers 330 then just work on your accuracy and putting because those are the 2 most important things in the game. During my best rounds I didnt throw the farthest drives. I made the furthest putts and parked the most baskets. Too many people worry about being able to throw 400 (as did I when I first started ) but it does you now good to park (within 25ft) a 420ft hole if you cant make the putt to get the birdie. I used to do it all the time. Then I realized accuracy upshots and putting are the key to this game. Not how far you can throw. So just practice your upshots and putting and I promise you your scores will drop dramaticaly.

By the way. If you dont push putt you should learn how :D

Drive for show, Putt for dough!!!!

When I throw the Eagle I get a nice S out of it but I believe it is more because I am releasing it Anhyzer and not because of spin on the disc. You may be right though and if I released it flat it would probably nose dive left.

I worked on my putting alot a couple years ago and I feel pretty good about my putting when I can get some practice in. I just don't feel like I am getting the most out of my drives and feel that it is probably my technique. It feels almost like I am pulling too hard and by the time I get to the release I am slowing down instead if hitting with full force.

3 Time Masters World Champ Brad Hammock gave me this simple yet GREAT advice and whenever I seem to get in a funk if I concentrate on this it gets me back on track.

You must ALWAYS accelerate threw your shot.

Simple enough right but so many times people are shanking because they arent doing this. So maybe start your pull threw a little slower and concentrate on accelerating threw the entire shot and follow threw.

Also if I were you I would grab up a different disc if your trying to throw farther. Grab a Starfire and Orc and Maybe even a Valk. I throw Discraft and seem to be getting the most distance out of my Wildcat when thrown with hyzer is will flip up go into glide mode and come out at the end. I would also suggest switching to the mid 160s in weight. When I am throwing for distance in a field I like to have a stable to overstable driver in light weight that way I an release it with hyzer flip it over and let it glide FOREVER and still count on it to fade back at the end for another 50-100 ft :D

hey steve , can you elaborate more on the acceleration of your shot. that sounds interesting , and i can always use help with distance!! distance is probably my biggest weakness in my game!!!! i am probably consistant from 320-350!! I think my problem may be partly in the area you are talking about!! I have a bad tendency of arming my shots , in other words lack of snap!!

Well in my shot I take a very slow and deliberate run up if you may. I would say I look more like Im walking up. This is all in pretty slow motion if you ask me. If your watching I dont know what it looks like because I dont have any tape of myself (yet). So once I have reached back its all an explosion from there. I accelerate threw the shot so that the disc just RIPS out of my hand and even if I wanted to I couldnt hold onto it or stop the shot. So many people have jerky and unsmooth reachbacks that they cannot accelerate threw to the hit and into the follow threw which loses them great distance and in my opinion accuracy. I try to accelerate threw EVERY shot no matter if its a 150ft shot or a 400 ft shot you want to be accelerating until after the disc has left your hand. You should be able to feel it when you finally are accelerating (if you think that you arent right now). It should feel different if you hadnt been doing it before. Deceleration (sp?) only leads to inconsistancy and loss of distance and accuracy. Which in turn leads to loss of confidence and when you dont have confidence on the course you dont have anything.

I hope this helped. If you have AIM and want to discuss things like this my AIM name is CronicILLZ and im on just about every single night and am more then willing to help anyone out if they need it.

Good stuff on the acceleration advice. Along with the feedback I got on my "getting your groove back" thread, this is some advice I will definitely work with. I suffer from the same issue as Indy and Esal... Thanks!

I need help if I want my rating to be even close to yours :D. I dropped 8 points to 942 this last rating and will drop probably at least 10 more next rating. I know I can probably get to be a 975 player if I get out of my current funk, but the way I am going, I'll have an Int player rating before too long. :o

Because if Mills can throw line drives with fade 420 and his S-curves go 450-500 in a field, then who knows what kind of distanceI can get in a field if my line drives with fade going are going 440-460ft consistently.

If you can throw your mids 300 and your drivers 330 then just work on your accuracy and putting because those are the 2 most important things in the game. Definately, I have yet to play a course where you HAD to throw much over 300ft in total distance to shoot par. Granted you may have needed that 300ft to be dead accurate. Work on accuracy and consistency, distance will come with better form.

Mills, what do you throw for your huge S-curve shots? Or by getting your drives to S, do you mean throwing the disc flat and letting it ride its designed high speed turn before it fades out. I would consider that a line drive shot, and what I normally throw (Beasts and Orcs, to go straight, slight turn right, the fade back). I am referring to shots thrown with anhyzer.

I try not to throw distance shots with anhyzer. I throw something on a high hyzer flip line but it If I were to throw something with anhyzer I would have to say my Tsunamis and now maybe my Avengers. I try to release all my shots either flat or with hyzer. I only realease with Anhyzer when throwing Rollers and shots that need to rurn for thier entire flight :D

Bummer, for a breif shining second I thought I might be throwing farther then you. But we basically throw the exact same way, but you are getting 40 more feet out of your max drives. But with me, my golf distance and competitive distance are about the same because our long holes are pretty wide open so you can just unleash. I still say we have that distance contest the next tournament we are at, this time we will not wait until Sunday evening.

Thanks for the info though.
