I was wondering if someone could help me out by recomending a nice course near Watkins Glen, NY. I will be camping there for a couple days on the way back from a trip to Eastern Canada. Perferably the course would be between Watkins Glen and Niagra Falls / Buffalo area. Thanks for any help anyone can offer.

Try searching with the PDGA Online Disc Golf Course Directory (http://www.pdga.com/course/index.php)

Just enter Watkins Glen, NY and the closest courses are returned.

But what course would you recomend?

I'm sure the poster knows about the course directory.

Ellison Park in Rochester is the best course over there. World class course.

The one in Corning is much closer but I never been there so i don't know, but it's so close you should give it a shot. Hank Foss designed it so I know it must be good. Then there's the private 18 hole course in Ithaca, great course but they have to invite you. It's at Pat Govang's cabin.

i play the rochester courses regularly and enjoy them all. (some more some less) /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif if you don't mind a challenge i would recommend chili . the chili course is probably the best course to look at and is quite unique. it has lots of obstacles and is quite long. ellison is a park course on a HUGE hill. be prepared for an energetic hike. if you'd like something less of a challenge but a beautiful course nonetheless go to the churchville course. (good fun with less frustration than the other two) another brand of frustration is the basil marella course in greece. VERY woodsy with some small elevation changes. not the kind of course for low grade plastics, the trees eat them up. this is my second favorite course in rochester after chili but also not for the faint of heart. (i'm a glutton for punishment) all of these courses are quite easy to find and are all within ~4 miles of the freeway (I-490). good luck and enjoy!!! :D

Basil Marella is all in the woods and some of the holes have no fairways at all. Many are just pins in the middle of the woods without any way of getting there.

Chili is all super long super open, it's on a farm all the land is cleared. Beautiful but you need to take steroids if you expect any 2's.

Chili = grip and rip
Basil = stroke and hope
Ellison = real disc golf

I recommend first hitting Corning because it's real close to you.
