Looking for some local info. I'm heading out to Columbia on business and should have some time to hit a course or two. Please let me know the best two or three in the area, I have seen the Columbia Club's website (http://www.columbiadiscgolfclub.com), I just want to know which courses I "can't miss". One of my favorite things about disc golf is playing new courses.

Was also wondering if Winthrop is worth the drive. Looks like its about an hour away.

Earlewood is the "can't miss" in Columbia. It's short but very hilly and very fun. Despite it's length it has received high praise from some top pros.

After that, depends on what you're looking for in a course. Owens Field is far and away the most challenging around---with both long, multi-throw holes and very tight wooded holes. The rough can be rough, and virtually everyone either loves it or despises it.

Crooked Creek, in Chapin (about 25 miles away), would be the other next choice. A very fine course, mostly cut through beautiful woods with a creek in play on a number of holes.

As for Winthrop, I'll leave it for someone else to verify what configuration is in and playable. If it is, it is definately worth the easy drive (about 60 miles up a generally uncrowded interstate, no cities to drive through). Bring extra discs, as the lakes are sure to swallow a few.

After that, depends on your time and enegy, as Augusta, Charlotte, and Greenville have excellent courses in the 70-100 mile range.

If you want a guide to play with, let us know.

Earlewood and Crooked Creek are can't misses - I love both of those courses.

If you have time, I would def. try and make it up to Charlotte. Hornests Nest and Renny are in most top pros top 10 courses.
