I just picked up the Orion LS this weekend and it's already my favorite driver. This thing just goes farther and straighter than my other discs. I strongly suggest trying one out if you get the chance. /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

I must agree with you assimo. They are awesome and exactly like starfires.

I haven't thrown one. I heard it was straighter than the Starfire. Is that the case for you?

Fly'n, for me they are a touch more understable than the ProStarfire and as such maybe a little less forgiving of release angle mistakes, but that said, until I can find Starfires in the 150's the Orion will be in my bag.

I have a 160 gm orion and I hucked that thing **** near 400 on Saturday. Thats great for me. They will be in my bag forever. Try frisbee rancher on ebay. That dude has everything in almost every weight.
However, it must be said that a few mistakes into trees and the Orion turns over quickly. I have a 167g that was an amazing straight flyer. It hit a few trees and now it's perfect for those shots that turn to the right(RHBH). I throw a lot of Pro Line plastic so I have a pretty good feel about how the plastic ages and it seems like the plastic of the Orion ages pretty quick. I've also heard this from a few other people. Anyone know if the plastic is a different blend? Anyone know if it'll be released in the Q plastic?
But I do agree that the Orion is one of the best discs to come along in awhile.

My home course is entirely wooded and right down the line I agree with your evaluation. It acts like a blend of some sort, a slightly different feel than Pro and doesn't seem to cut or visibly deform as much when taking a solid hit. But after a few solid hits they start making those right hand turns rather well. Too well. Still, until they are hammered, I like them an awful lot. Q Plastic, come on down. :D

Tad bit more understable than the Pro Starfire IMO, but as soon as I threw it the Starfires came out of the bag and the Orion went in...VERY CONTROLLABLE DISC!

I think the Q Orion would be a Sidewinder :D

You are correct sir ... they are great rollers. I've hyped these discs since they came out. My first one is starting to turn over already, but now all I have to do is throw with a little more hyzer and they flip up and fly straight. They are great golf discs!

Got one of these in the players pack at the KCWO and loved it. Went straight as an arrow. I agree that a few run-ins with a tree will change its flight path easily. I wish the plastic was more durable. I nailed a tree w/ it dead on and it took a real nice chunk out of mine. When i throw it now even with a hyzer release, it will turn over in an instant. But i would definitely recommend them, just stay out of the trees.

I won a few at my last tourney....practiced wth them once. I see great potential for big anny's...and rollers in the future :D (both are 168g btw)
The only thing that has kept me from trying it is hearing others tell me how quick they beat in.

If there are trees anywhere near the tee box I dont throw it. I go with a champ orc instead. I've hit a few trees from a distance and the thing seems fine. I love this disc. I hate my rating.
The # 1 hooker SOUNDS like the best disc ever.... :(

The Orion came through again this pass weekend @ the Live Oak Summer Open WOW I just wonder now how I ever played without his Disc. Now only if they came in Q Plastic that would make it untouchable :D
I got a chance to throw one of these this weekend and it was really awsome. It surprised me how fast it flew. I would compare it to a Sidewinder in flight path but maybe a bit faster.
I haven't thrown one. I heard it was straighter than the Starfire. Is that the case for you?
I find that it's straighter than the Starfire. It does have a bit of turn to it so you have to throw with a hyzer, but once you get it going straight it just stays for a long time. I think it has less fade than a Starfire and that same bit of extra glide that I perceive with the Starfire. I like it for long shots that require me to hit a gap and/or require me to land in a certain area. The Starfire will fade out a bit harder than I'd like for shots where placement is important and I can't have the disc skipping off to the left. The Orion will still fade and skip a little, but it's much easier to deal with, IMO.
Orion seems to have more high speed resistance and less glide than a starfire to me. I tell people its kinda like a mix between a jls and an orc.

I got an Orion at KCWO and didn't throw it until last week. I have found that it is surprisingly durable, and STRAIGHT. I have had my longest drives with this thing. I like throwing it about 5-8 feet off the ground. It doesn't flip, it doesn't hyzer at the end, it just goes straight. I threw the sidewinder and I think it is garbage, nothing like the Orion. My best comparison would be an old pro line beast or the early super domey orcs. My Orion is black and the plastic feels simalar to new pro line plastic, but a lot tougher.

New personal CTP on #3 at Ramcat yesterday with the first throw ever on a virgin Orion. Dead straight low down the tunnel with a slight tailing at the end.......... Love this mold.

Two more personal all time CTP's at Ramcat Wednesday afternoon with the Orion. #12's new long hyzer pin position - two inches from touching the base of the basket frame ; #17 long uphill anhyzer - about 16' from the basket. Bring on the quantum plastic in this mold. :D

We haven't forgotten in all the flurry of new discs John. Bring on the Quantum or better yet Millennium Star plastic Orions. Still love the mold and use it but all of mine are beat to long anhyzer or sky roller discs. All my favorite courses are wooded and my penchant for "playing the terrain features" heaps abuse on them. Quantum Orion, Quantum Orion, Quantum Orion, Quantum Orion...............

I was looking through the white undyed stuff last night, hoping for an inspiration to do some work, and noticed an Orion with the stamp cleaned off. I was thinking of doing a Bat-Orion like the Batfire seen here (http://discontinuum.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=897&st=140) but I could do anything with it. If you go there you can see a lot of samples.

from "Ask Dave D About Innova" thread:
Hey Dave, since you are somewhat affiliated with Millennium yet (as far as I know), any thoughts on a Star Sentinel (preferably the Limited Edition Sentinel feel) or a Star JLS? Maybe this up for John's decision. Just curious though. Even a star Orion...ooooOOOOOooooh.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes, it is up to John to determine what he wants. We manufacture for him. He has not as yet ordered a Sentinel yet. He has ordered Orions (LF and LS) in a Star type plastic. I believe the JLS will be available in that plastic too. Questions about Millenium probably should be directed to John Houck. He's the boss at Millenium.

Yup, that was my inspiration for the above huge freaking image of the Orion Nebula. As good as the glide is on a regular Orion LS - can't wait to fly some STAR plastic versions. Hope some mid 150's (or less  :) :D) find their way off the mold.

I was noticed on the Dave D thread he mentioned an Orion LF!!! I can't wait the LS is such a sweet disc the LF will be a great addition. My two favorite discs in the bag are QJLS and Orion LS..
