Anyone familiar with this course and have up to date info on condition of the course etc.? Going to a reunion in Hendersonville next weekend and this course is much closer than Richmond Hill. I love the Richmond Hill course and will make the longer drive if need be, but I love playing new courses too.

I do not have current conditons (my guess is that the grass is very high), but I am not a fan of this course. It is quite long and quite boring since it is wide open on a huge prairie-like pice of land. You will be in the shade for a total of 5 minutes in a typical round. It is mainly wide open, but water does come into play on 2-3 holes.
IMO, going to an open field and throwing is more fun than Fletcher. If I could throw 500' I might have a different opinion, but for me (300-330' length) 7 of 9 holes are tap-in 3's.

Thanks Dave. Exactly the kind of info I was looking for. Shoot guess I'll just have to play Richmond Hill again.:D Anyone up for a late morning round Saturday 23 July?

The course is not maintained well, and is very overgrown right now. Go play Mars Hill for a challenge!

Yup, that's a course I need to catch P2. We'll see how long I can escape the get together. Travel time, how far beyond Richmond Hill?

Never mind. Per Mapquest zip code to zip code 23 miles and 30 minutes. I'll catch it if I can wrangle an extra hour of travel time, but I love Richmond Hill. Not too shabby a consolation prize.

One piece of advise on Mars Hill: Make sure you find hole 1 and the kiosk with the map on it. I think they have maps printed you can take with you. Grab one if available. If not make notes as to the location of the next tee for each basket since many tee locations are counterintuitive.
If you don't do this you will waste more time than your one hour drive out of your way.
Mars Hill is an incredible course! Coolk use of elevation and a college campus environment. Make sure you bring lots to drink though since you will be in the sun a lot and logging some serious vertical travel.
