What kind of shoes do you wear & how many pair are designated for disc golf use?

I have 3 different pair of shoes I use for only disc golf.
All 3 are Nike ACG Goretex in different styles.

Cool, I didn't know they made more than one style.
I wear Nike cross-trainers on level courses with minimal rough, but wear GoreTex hikers (high-top) for harder courses.

I was talking about shoes at that dinner I went to last night. Specifically, I said, "So why is my nickname 'Nike-boy' when I wear New Balance and Rockport shoes?"

In 2001 when I was rehabing from my back injury Mark Ellis twice gave me shoes for caddying for him. We have the same foot size and he did not like them. They finally wore out this year.

I think I have 10-12 pairs of shoes and 5 or 6 of them are designated for golf only.

I have 5 pairs of Salomons and 4 of them are designated for discs golf use and 1 is for before and after discs golf used and just lounging around the house and tournaments. I then have a pair of LLB Gortex that are disc golf only and a old pair of trail running Adidas that hardly every get worn unless its really nasty out. I am also in the process of ordering 3 more pairs of Salomon shoes specifically for disc golf. This will include a Gortex pair of Salomons because I do not like the LLB pair as they are too rigid for my liking.

Try some Salomons. I promise you wont be disapointed :D

The Salomons look like the real deal. Better than GoreTex? If so, why?

I am getting a pair of Gor-Tex Salomons. The regular Salomons are not very good when its wet out just because they are made of mostly mesh for light weight and breathability. The morning dew really isnt a problem but if the ground is really wet or its raining plan on your feet getting wet which Is why I am buying a pair of Gor Tex Salomons as well :D

Dude, do you have a shoe sponsorship deal or just a shoe fetish? You have what..... $500-$800 invested just in disc golf specific footwear?

I would call it more of an obsession then a fetish. Its just like discs. I get discs for free but if I see ones that I like I buy them anyway. I wish I had a shoe sponsorship. It would save me alot of money since the shoes I like cost about 100-150 bucks a pop  :D

I bought two of the exact same Salomon shoes that you have off of Ebay, for $65 including shipping. Try looking there next time, it will save you some money.

Salomon does make some great shoes for disc golf and they sponsor tournaments and golfers. However, the one pair I have ever owned wore out in less than 3 months. The sole almost came half off and they were rendered useless. I have been using a pair of Timberland for the last year and they are still holding up.

New Balance All Terrain (various styles). They come in different widths which is great for me. I don't care about Gore-tex in my shoes because I use Gore-tex socks. The Gore-tex in shoes tends to wear out after awhile whereas with the socks I can replace them.

Has anyone tried Hi-Tec? They have some adventure race shoes that look very appealing for use as DG shoes.

Hi-Tec (http://www.hi-tec.com/us/category.php?categoryId=19)

They also have several more colors than some of the other makers.

Has anyone tried the Merrel Chameleon Ventilator, I wanted to get some cooler summer shoes, the funky looking tread made me question how the grip would be.

I just wear my birks. I have 3 pairs, and only one pair of work shoes, so its not likely that ill wear much else. And im also immune to poison ivy/oak, so theres nothing to wory about there, except for that **** bee that stung my toe yesterday....

and yea, the grip sucks, but its better than being uncomfortable. and i am RHFH anyways and there is not as much of a twisting run up involved, meaning im less likely to slip.

I have a pair of them and the Stretches, both with the funky tread. The grip is fine and appears to work better for rotation (a personal observation, might be my throwing style). Haven't worn the Vents enough this summer to tell if they are cooler than the Stretches.

Check out Bite shoes/sandals. They even make them with cleats for golf (if you're into that sort of thing).
I like the Primal, and the Xtension 2 sandal.

I have both the ventillator and the stretch also. I have had the ventillators for several years. The tread pattern works well on cement and dirt. If you wear a wool sock with them, they work great for keeping you feet cool. The wool sock wicks the sweat and the ventillation dries them out. I play in hot and humid conditions during the summer.

I just got the stretch. They are way comfortable! I will be switching to the stretch when the weather cools off.

I use the Salomon Dakota's. I have two pair I bought off of sierratradingpost.com for $40 a pop. They were last years models so they were much cheaper then the retail $90.

They hold up for all conditions. The leather is just thick enough to barely keep out the cold and water from dew. But thin enough to let just a little bit of wind in during the summer. Great all around shoe, it has held up well on cement teepads when I stopped dragging my toe.

Yes, they are sweet. At $28 I may just buy myself another pair as a back up. :D
