Just saw current affair tonight and had a story about a disc golfer getting caught on the course with a bag of goodies because of his dog grabbed it out of a creek when he tried to stash it. Happend somewhere in Texas Just didn't think it was good publicity.

He was smoking pot and he saw the cop tossed his bag into the creek and when he was talking to the cop the dog of the smoker came up out of the creek with his masters baggie. Funny story I actually read about it in news of the weird in the Sheppard Express a couple months ago too. But they actually showed the park discs teepads and everything on TV

Maybe they should start calling it "A 5 Months Ago Affair."

They interviewed the guy and his dog who was holding a disc in its mouth. He said his dog helped him quit and clean up his life. It was about 6-7 minute news thing on Current Affair aired last nite.

How was life after your master got arrested?

While your master was in the fairway, into what was he trying to throw the baggie?

Did they show any of the disc golf equipment? Baskets? Discs?.....or did they just kept mentioning the name of the sport?

This is the closest course to my house...... :D

I know this was negative publicity, and I'll admit I have only played the course a handful of times. However, I did not like the course the few times I played prior to the incident due to trash being everywhere. Since the incident, there is a definite police presence and lack of litter. While the police may have gone a little over board with the extent at which the are enforcing some of the laws there, I feel safer and would go to that park more often. I may try to make it out there tonight.
I hate to admit it, especially since I just got Pat to retract a statement that I am an id[/b]iot, but I get lost everytime I try to get there. :(

Show up Wed night. I'll make sure you, Don, and myself are on the same card. Can't get lost with me on the card.

The police don't bother the regulars. They actually have been really cool to us. They know that we are the ones that pick up the trash, and participate in workdays. In fact, the police have only been spotted twice on Wed nights since the time change.

It's not the course I get lost on. I can't ever remember if it is off 121 or 360.

Yep, that's how :D
So, if I take 121 from Fort Worth and exit at 360 and come back south will I pass the entrance?

if you are coming north on 121, exit stoney myers rd, turn right. Then turn right again on 360 access road. Entrance is 800' down.

I disagree it was negative for the sport, just for the guy. Was golf put into a negative light when OJ played after being acquitted? No.

That's because the general perception of the public does not associate double-homicide with golf. However, there the public does generally make a connection between disc golf and dope smoling.

And this story furthered and endorsed the public's perception.

Years ago a golfer in Clearwater went crazy and killed some people that he worked with. Later that day, he killed himself and lay near one of the pole holes on the course. He and the the target were on National news.

Jul 19 2005, 11:52 AM
Did he ace the shot or did he take a 2?
