With the newest few discs that came out, specifically Discrafts Glide, Innova's Coyote and Sidewinder. These are meant to be thrown at slow speeds.
Personally I throw very hard, and while I can throw with reduced power, it feels wrong off the tee box and I prefer to back down to mid ranges and putters depending on the distance.
I have been clocked (radar) on my hard distance drives at 72mph. At that speed I need stable drivers.
What is the throwing speed of your hard drives?

i doubt many people have been clocked by a radar

The TX10 Finals have had a radar gun for players to throw at the past few years. Quite a few people threw at it. I think the fastest thows were overhands (tomahawks and thumbers).

Yeah but it was fun. Just fine someone who used to be really serious about being a baseball pitcher, they likely have a radar gun.
I was wondering about the speed of my thrown discs just the other day. I'm certain that my tomahawks move much faster, but it would be nice to see exactly how fast I'm throwing. It could be a detriment though, I went to a bowling alley that clocked the speed of your throws and I spent most of the night trying to break 50mph. 46 was my best...hehe

throwing with a (much) more compact reach back but with the same set of base mechanics can also decrease the base velocity of the throw without any change in the "strength" that you throw with.

at worlds, they had a radar gun measuring ppl's drive speed...
no one got over 80....infact, like 75 won.
I think my best was around 68ish.....
We use Theo's radar gun in Oregon at events as a fundraiser. I used to be the champ at 76mph, but Lane Mason can throw a 78 mph thumber. :p People tend to overestimate their armspeed, though.

The last time I checked, I could just barely reach 60.
