Well for all that care, Foutain Hills disc golf course is up and running again. 18 holes on an almost completly redesigned course. The course plays the opposite direction as before. There are only 3 holes that are the same. The front 9 is now pitch and putt, with the longest hole being 370'. Actully only 1 hole is 370, the rest average about 275'. They do utilize alot of the trees on the north side of the park with short tight shots with the baskets near the lake. The back 9 averages around 370' with one hole being 475'. I shot a -6 with 1 bogie on the front, and then shot 9 straight pars on the back . No wind, but it was 107 out . The only reprieve was when the fountain would go off, (and we usually hate it when the fountain goes off). I think that if I shoot well there is a -10 to a -13. Top pros would kill this little set-up.

Now don't get all, "they ruined a great course on me". When the Memorial comes around we WILL set up a great course, especially with all the new sleeves. And yes as of right now it looks like we will have the course available for the Memorial. :D(but remember, anything can change)

Sounds sweet. I played some doubles at The Fountain after this year Memorial was over and that course was KICK ACE and I hope it gets played for the Memorial next year as well. Cant wait to get back out to AZ for some golf :D

Are there tee-signs? Or is it still hopeless for someone unfamiliar with the course to try and play it without a local?

Will there be a monthly out there 4th of July weekend?
What's the AZ disc club's web site?
Thanks!

No monthly that weekend. We are having one of our cactus series events in Flagstaff, on a brand new course called Mcphearson(sp) Park, that weekend. The course is supposed to be like NAU, but better. Also I heard that Snowbowl has said yes to a perm. course, which means that Flagstaff, with 4 courses, is turning into kind of a mecca for DG.

Dano is having a monthly this saturday on the Memorial course at Scottsdale. He also is having his grand opening of "Spinners on the green", his pro shop next to Dukes. If you're in town you should stop by his shop. It's pretty nice, lots of stuff. AZ. website; disqman.com

Thanks for the info! I'll definitely stop by Dano's new shop. A former high school friend has taken up the game in the past few years and has played w/Dano in his group. Small darn world! Thanks for the info!

wow, that is the best disc golf news in a long time! even if it is redesigned, the Fountain is a premier site. this might just get me out to the memorial next spring!

Good! Hope to see you. But remember that even without the foutain it still turned out great this year.

Dano is thinking about turning the Scottsdale course into a harder 18 hole more like La Mirada does for the Golden State if we get the fountain for sure. Which means he will keep the hard 8 to the south, and change the easy 18 to the north into 10 holes, and of course with all sidewalks OB. Advanced should be able to play the same courses as the pros if we do get the fountain. And of course we can take everyone in for thr event.

Now when I say IF we get the fountain, means that as of right now it looks great, but the powers that make the parks decisions change almost daily. Right now they are not building or repairing anything, but that could change. They might want Dano to pay some kind of fee that may be to high, so keep your fingers crossed. We should know for sure by nov. or dec..

Sweeeet. AZ rocks! Will be out for the memorial again next year & can't wait. Will have to set aside a day again to go to Flagstaff (allthough I'm sure that's still ski season at snowbowl).

when you says dan's pro shop does that mean he has taken over that shop a couple doors down ?
that would be way cool if you ask me.

No, Dan opened a new one. The other one (cal daze) I think is still there, but the owner turned out to be a major drug addict, and ripped Dano and the club off of about $7000, so Dano opened his store right next to Dukes. This is a real store too, not just a skateboard shop that has some discs. Dan has apparel, bags, baskets, some custom stuff, and a larger selection of discs than he kept at cal daze.

The fountain course has always been there and playable, or I should say 75% playable. The parks dept. have just finished putting in this amphitheater thing, more sidewalks, and finished the strip mall on the southwest end of the course. The strip mall has a couple of nice eaterys right on the course. Meaning you can sit on the patio, watch some DG, sip a frosty beverage, and see the fountain go off

I think that this year Flagstaff still had a couple a feet of snow still in town during the Memorial. Snowbowl still has snow on it now!! Snowbowl received over 400" this year!

i agree with everything you said about cal daze,i never bought anything from that guy because my gut feeling on him was that he was less than honorable ( i.e. ) a crook

glad to hear dano opened up right next to him,i wounder how long it will take before dano puts him out of bissness :D

Well I guess soon after Dan opened, the guy went into detox and his store hasn't been open for awhile. Dan already has cornered the disc market, and is renting bikes. I'm sure skateboards will be next, cause of the skatepark.......
