a friend of mine who runs a college youth group asked me to run a disc golf clinic. i did it last week, and i thought it was very successful. the coolest part about it was that it was all chicks who showed up. they were all wanting to learn how to improve their games so they could start playing in tournaments. i think we will be making it a once a week thing. so if there is any guys who want to come out and show off to some beginner ladies, let me know!

Des Reading representing last night at the Iowa Cubs AAA baseball game. From just right of Home Plate, she pumped a couple of 350' drives with unfamiliar discs out into centerfield. As I heard someone in the stands say, "watching a woman throw that far gave me goosebumps"
Yeah goosebumps ;)

Figures that an Iowan that defected to the Lone Star State would throw "Texas Leaguers." :D
Way to go, Des! You've got "the EDGE" in my book! :)

Gateway Disc Sports is looking to hire one or 2 women to work for our disc golf company in ST Louis Missouri on a full time basis.
Hiring a women who already has the knowledge and passion for disc golf will surely help in our efforts to better serve our customers.
We will review all interested parties regardless of experience, but would prefer to find people with basic office and computer skills as well as some experience in retail and customer service.
Here is a brief job description;
Answering phone calls and emails.
Pulling and boxing orders.
Developing art for new products, marketing and advertising.
It would help to know adobe illustrator and photoshop, but it's not necessary!
Tye dying and hotstamping discs, as well as making discs at the factory.
Handling retail customers, (our shop is located at Jefferson Barracks park and we will eventually have full retail and concessions for the players and park users).
Assembling bags and baskets.
There will be PLENTY of opportunities for travel to promote as well as play in events all over the country.
The salary will be based on experience and there will be a lot of room to grow.
We can help with some relocation fees if necessary and dont mind hiring a couple.

The gals from the Kamloops Disc Golf Club are gearing up for a Women's Tourney unlike any other in 2006. All Women Disc Golfers should mark June 2-4, 2006 on their disc golf calendars. This event will take place after Beaver State Fling and before KC Wide Open and will be a super B Tier event. The gals have already secured $2,100 in added cash and have a few big sponsors coming on board with additional $. This event will have one of the largest (if not biggest) FPO payouts in all of 2006. If you are looking for a great road trip in 06 be sure to check out this event. More info is available at our website at:
www.kdgc.com (http://www.kdgc.com)

Canada isnt that place somewhere in the Panhandle of TEXAS :o:D
Are you guys talking about that tiny state that fits into one small corner of our country? Bring yer A games, eh?!
All smack talk aside, way to step up to the plate to ramp up Women's Disc Golf. At Nationals last year Elaine King collected her largest ever FPO payout of her illustrious DG career right here in Kamloops.

No, that's Canadian, TX. It's in the Northern Texas Panhandle right beside the Canadian River. Some good areas for Disc Golf up there, but not very many people.

Jun 24 2005, 04:15 PM
I agree...it is good the ladies are FINALLY getting theirs
Yeah, it sucks to be us.:)
Vinnie, that is going to be a tough one, but we know that you can do it. :)
Any date where there is not a A-Tier event and also a date in which there is no tournaments in TX (like that is every going to happen)
We can then have all the men caddy and cater to us women for the weekend and if they are good boys we may even let them play sometime during the weekend. :D
And yes let's not forget, before it gets too darn HOT!!!

Chic Disc Golfers RULE!
Met a new one this weekend and although she was disappointed that there were no other intermediate women to play against - she happily played Advanced. She was thrilled to see so many (7) women at one event! Not bad for a small C tier at a private course in VA...
Welcome Kimberly!
You have a great attitude, keep comimg back!
Kim's going to Peoria (I'm so jealous) so when you see her there say hey.

Sweet! My wife will finally get to play in an Intermediate division!
There should be quite a few intermediate women there. Hopefully I can swing the airfare from Denver and possibly the skipping of classes... Gotta work on that place to stay as well -- Hey Girlie.... ;)

Hey Sue!! glad you are coming down for LOSO! See below for hotel information :
Alrighty guys and gals, Laura Karshis has found a hotel deal for LOSO. Thanks Laura! There are other hotels in the area, but they are much higher due to summertime rates.
Motel 6 also off of IH-35 that cost is
$58.99 plus the 16.75 % tax rate = $68.87 for Friday & Saturday night. If you decide to stay on Sunday too the rate is lowered to $39.99 + 16.75% tax rate = $46.69 for Sunday only.
If you are interested in Motel 6 the address is 9503 IH-35 N. Distance from motel to course is about 10 mins max. Plus there is a little bonus! Motel 6 is right in between Adult Video and Adult Video Megaplex
Back to details, when reserving please ask for Linda Wright @ 210-654-4425 and make sure you let her know that you are calling for the LOSO Disc Golf Tornament rate. You must reserve by July 8th or rate will no longer be available, also you must reserve with a credit card to hold the room, but do not have to pay with it. There is no continental breakfast or anything like that.
Sue let me know if you need any other information.
BTW Great Thread!!! :D

The host hotel for the Women's Nationals is Welk-um Inn and rooms are only $55.50 per night plus tax for all days.
FYI - The tournament starts Friday morning, so unless you are arriving Friday morning, you may need a room for Thursday night as well.
