I lost an '04 Super Roc that I was very partial to. Orange w/black stamp. First Roc design I didn't think was cheesey.

I've also lost 2 150 Champion Vikings that just flew and flew and flew away. Pros might not huck them, but they are genius for me.

What about you?

my old go to second run ce firebird!! hit an ace with it , kept it in the bag and lost it within a couple weeks!! **** it!! :(

Jun 06 2005, 12:31 AM
The disc i miss the most -- evidently it became very thirsty or decided it wanted to be a fish -- is a white with almost worn off green foil hotstamp 3x JK Aviar-x. It was the one putter i really believed in

I also was disappointed when i put a blue Ron Russell Z Comet in the drink -- in fact that and putting a DGLO Z Storm in water prompted me to switch midranges (both were limited edition). Now I throw Millenium Aurora MS and QMS's -- and they are sweet.

I also carry a Hydra in my bag's zipper compartment for those shots that remind me of former discs that were swallowed by water :D

Jun 06 2005, 12:58 AM
I lost a 168g 10x Teebird that was an x-out, and super flat. By far the best teebird I ever threw, and I lost it in the woods :(.

Jun 06 2005, 12:59 AM
of all the discs i've lost the 2 that bugged me the most was one of my first run Z-buzzz's and a CLEAR 11x Teebird that was beat just perfect. Miss that teebird especially.

I lost a 166 gram Z Pred that I wish I could get out of the pond in Norwalk OH. Best flying Z Pred I ever owned :(

Jun 06 2005, 11:01 AM
First-run Z-XS that I lost in a pond in Provo, Utah, while on vacation one summer. First premium plastic disc I ever bought, and I just loved throwing it. (But I since bought a first-run Z-Flash in the same color, and it flies farther -- just does not look as cool to me, as I much prefer the unstamped look of the original Z discs).

my first premium disc ever was a sweet blue flat CE valk.

i was warming up at WVO last year, hole 18 of the woodshed. (http://www.westvirginiaopen.com/WOOD/shedhole18_1B.JPG) i had a beautiful drive down the center of the fairway. it bent right, towards the road and came back for as easy of an upshot as you could hope for. everyone i was warming up with agreed it was an awesome shot... BUT THEN WE COULDN'T FIND IT! it must have been under some cut grass or something. i probably would have found it, but i had to get to my hole to start the tourney :( never got it back. i had put all my other decent valks in the drink the day prior. my mindset on top of my lightened bag did not bode well for my tourney. my rating is still recovering from that round.

Lost many discs on the other side of the road on #18 Woodshed ... I feel your pain :(

I lost my USDGC fly-dye CE Valkyrie on a practice drive at Paw Paw a few years ago ... not going to tell you the hole as I still dream I will find it one day :p I've been watching my cousin throw his for years ... just making me jealous as hell. It has to be one of the sweetest flying discs ever made!

I had a light yellow Cyclone from the early 90's that I was particularly fond of. It was the first disc I could throw dead straight on occasion. I hooked it into some brush at Swope. We looked and looked for that thing. Finally had to give it up. Losing that disc gnawed at me for days.

As luck would have it, my husband and I went back to KC about 2 1/2 weeks later. I searched again in a different spot, on the theory that "if it not where you think it is, it's where you think it's not". Sure enough, there it was, a bit spattered from the rains, but patiently waiting for me. :)

Stolen: 1st run Blueberry CE Valk that was taken from under the basket on hole 9 at ElDo while warming up with multiple discs/multiple people before an ElDo Open. That sucked so bad it wasn't even funny.

Lost: beat 1st run 168g DX Eagle that was my go-to roller. That disc rolled so sweet. I lost it at the Memorial one year on that last temp hole playing away before you come back down the other side. I was trying for max-distance and then flip to roll around the corner, but it didn't flip. It barely made it to the edge of the water and went in, so I figured I would get it back easily. Except that when it barely hopped into the water, it was right into that huge grate that drains the water to the other side of the street. Ugh.

Jun 06 2005, 02:06 PM
recently, a 180g glo roc i threw in the lake yesterday. Just in time for KC!! :D

1st -

Lost a CE Valk, 2nd run, Fly-dye by Joel Kelly at Texas Teams the first year it was at San Saba. It was barely in the brush and so I used it as my marker and then forgot to pick it up. I know who got it because we were talking about one the next day that he found and he told me it was purple. One of his teammates told me later that he had MY disc. The guy was from Houston.

2nd -

Lost a CE Firebird FX, Orange at what I consider my home course on hole 26 before they did a lot of clearing. It was late one night at league and it broke too soon, I thought I made the bend but I guess I didn't. Well, two weeks later, an acquaintance, I guess you can call him that, had an Orange Firebird in his bag. I told him that I wish I still had mine as he was pulling it out of his bag to throw, just because it reminded me of mine...well, he stuffed it back in his bag immediately and never got it out again that day. He is not the smartest guy in the world because he got it out a couple of weeks later at league nite and I could tell he had marked out something on the rim,and it just happened to be where I always mark my discs.

I guess both of these guys needed the discs more than I did.

I have lost several more, but those two take the cake.

I've had a few lost ones I really wish I could have back. The worst was a 10x fly dye teebird that was my first non dx disc bought. I grip locked it and it landed maybe 20 feet up in a tree. I looked for about half an hour that day and at least 10 minutes every day for the next month every time I was out playing. Another was a 10x eagle that I had 2 aces with. I threw it in the woods on a hole, tossed a second drive with the eagle, and a group playing through picked it up and ran with it even though I was maybe 30 feet away at most. I played a quick speed round trying to catch the group ahead, but I was pretty sure they split after 9.

last week i aced hole #5 at the canyon in brookesville on the second throw with a brand new blue x-buzz. john was sitting close by to witness it and said it was only the second ace he knew of on that hole. two holes later on the third throw with that disc i lost it over the cliff left.

Jun 07 2005, 01:11 AM
last spring, i aced hole 18 in fairmont mn with an purple ecplise, 2 weeks later , i was out practicing on hole 2 and one of the local players was behind me, he went into the field i threw the ace eclipse and bagged it, he and i were the ONLY people on the course. i asked for it back and he said he dint have it, which was a bold faced lie. later in the summer he had it in his bag and smirked.

I shanked a tee-shot on the pond hole at Cedar Hills in Raleigh about 4 years ago, and lost a DX whippet into the nasty water. I hit my first-ever ace with that disc. I'm getting emotional just thinking about it all these years later.

My 172g Beat up, Flat Z-Buzzz

Turned it too much on a sky anhyzer and it landed somewhere in the middle of a 75'x75'x5' patch of Sagebrush. I would have been unable to pass through it to retrieve the disc, but I at least wanted to say goodbye.

But now, my 177g, Beat up Domey Z-buzzz has worn into the same thing. Now I have a stash of them that I rotate so if I lose one I will have one of similar stability in reserve.

Most upset would be a beat up DX Archangel that would turn forever and was awesome with a tail wind. It was stolen off the course I was playing (went back to a lie 3 minutes after leaving and the only other person on the course "didn't see anything"). I also had a XL stolen during a tournament (threw into a pond and it was gone immediately after the round).

I threw two Sabres on a hole once and they both landed in the street down an embankment off to the side of the fairway. When I went to go get them I saw a car there, heard one of the doors slam and the car quickly drove away. My discs were nowhere to be found.

Any disc that I throw into the lake is a heart breaker for me.

But, I would have to say an old XD that was given to me. I threw it as hard as I could and hit a tree 10 feet in front of me, cracking it about half way through. I dry welled it together and have it as a keepsake (doesnt fly correctly now). Although I have tried other XD's, they have not been the same. I've tried Rocs, MRV, MRX, Sentinel, and currently using a Buzz (which is flipping on me way too much).

Still have not found anything that flew like that XD.

Jun 27 2005, 02:12 PM
Discraft's Breeze is *similar* to the XD. It might have a little higher, or taller profile, but flies pretty similar. Probably worth a try for you.

Oh man. Lost my 175g Glow Candy TL w/a very minimal stamp over the weekend. There's this row of evergreens dividing the park behind my apartment from the road. They only a few feet deep, but they are HUNGRY. At first look you'd never think you could permanently lose something in them. They have now taken 3 or 4 nice discs from me. I'm going to go out tonight and see if the sucker is glowing. Not sure how I'm going to replace it......

Hank,
I feel your pain. The two most valuable discs I've ever owned were broken in XD's. Both delivered many amazing shots for me including a number of aces, fairway ace birdies and "how on earth did you save par from that lie!" par saves.
One broke when I hit a tree back in 1990. The other got lost in some shule ( I looked for a total of 7 hrs over the next three days) in 2003.They just don't make em like that today.

Hero, the breeze turns earlier in flight and has significant comeback as the disc slows down. A good old style XD turned later in flight and had absolutely zero comeback. I threw shots with an XD rhbh that had flight characteristics identical to a lhbh.

Good news is my early impression of the coyote is it may have similar versatility and control as the xd with the longevity of candy plastic.

Jun 29 2005, 11:01 AM
Besides those two XDs I just mentioned, the other dearly departed disc I lost was a SE Leopard. Once broken in just right a leopard has controllable turn with no low speed fade, which makes nearly every lefty hole a righty hole.
The SE Leopard is also an excellent long distance roller. While a champion orc may roll farther, nothing holds a roller line better than the se leopard.

How do they break? From what I understand, discs break when they hit trees. I thought only Am's hit trees, hence the reason we are not pros. Don't tell me pro's hit trees too. Then I will have no reason to stay in the amateur ranks for now.

Jun 29 2005, 04:29 PM
The strangest thimg is that I've had other XD that I just haven't broken in for me the same way.

Let me know how you like the coyote. Right now, I'm using a new Z Buzz and a beat up mrv. The Buzz really hasn't worked out for me in this Texas wind. I can't lay it by the pin like I used to do with my XD.

I have a sentinel in the closet that I'm yet to try. I'm also thinking of trying a wasp and maybe a spider. What do you recommend for heavy wind conditions?

Local players swear by the spider down here.

I bonked a 175 glow tbird with the maceman jesterface on 17 at the Zboaz, and looked like a mad bastage for it to no avail. I used it for flicks and a few other shots, and I'm REAL BUMMED no one returned it to me, considering it has my giant GB stamp on the bottom. +urd burglars.

Jul 14 2005, 12:07 AM
The very first disc I bought broke my heart when it left me. I still cry myself to sleep over that Aviar. Sometimes, when I'm in the woods playing a round by my self, I can still hear it hitting the chains on some far off basket. It is a heavenly sound, and it makes me feel better, but only for a brief time.

As much as I loved the life we had and all the times we played,
I was so very tired and knew my time on earth would fade.
I saw a wondrous image then of a place that's trouble-free
Where all of us can meet again to spend eternity.

I saw the most beautiful Rainbow, and on the other side
Were meadows rich and beautiful -- lush and green and wide!
And running through the meadows as far as the eye could see
Were animals of every sort as healthy as could be!
My own tired, failing body was fresh and healed and new
And I wanted to go run with them, but I had something left to do.

I needed to reach out to you, to tell you I'm alright
That this place is truly wonderful, then a bright Glow pierced the night.
'Twas the Glow of many Candles shining bright and strong and bold
And I knew then that it held your love in its brilliant shades of gold.

For although we may not be together in the way we used to be,
We are still connected by a cord no eye can see.
So whenever you need to find me, we're never far apart
If you look beyond the Rainbow and listen with your heart.

I'm new (5 months) & recently lost my first & favorite Cheetah. Spent a good 30 minutes & lost blood looking for the thing.
The very next day lost my 2nd favorite disc...... a Moray (why don't they make these anymore ? ).
Lucky for me a few days later someone found & called about the Moray. (do we need to remind people to put names & #'s on discs ??)
No luck with the Cheetah so I had to go buy another.

RIP Cheetah. I'll never forget you as you were my first. (lol)

But good news follows bad, I found a 173g Elite Z Xpress in great shape. No name.
Better news is it's a great disc, goes nice & straight for me with slight fade at the end. Lovin' It.

I was playing a round with my friends when I was 16-17 years old.

There was a guy selling discs out of the trunk of his car.... So we were looking at his stuff. He pulled out a disc spiked it straight down onto the pavement and handed it to me. It wasnt "taco'd", it wasnt dented and it wasnt even scuffed.

It was the new Champion Edition plastic. I picked a 175g Eagle (pretty much at random) and fell in love with the consistency. I went on to carry only one disc every time I played. It was great, I learned that one disc like the back of my hand.

I had it for a couple of years and never lost it. Then I went to college and met a few discers that took a roadtrip to my home town to play the 3 sweet courses I played in my "glory days".

I dont know what else to say... I no longer use an eagle, or anything in the CE plastic, but I would trade any disc I own for a chance to go one more round with it.

I lost it at O'houser park in Menasha Wisconsin. I dont remember what the hole number was, but it was on the back nine and there was a holding pond on your left hand side :( :(

Jul 20 2005, 10:01 PM
I had never lost a disc before, I'd looked for an hour before I found it one time, I'd gone wading in a creek until I found it one time.

But today, it was a lost cause. One of my oldest discs, and least used. Had to throw an anhyzer over a lake and back to the basket... the shot knicked a tree branch and turned it the other way so it hyzer'd out to the middle of the lake and went splash. It was an old Champ Leopard that always flipped on me, so I rarely pulled it... threw it today because I didn't want to take a chance of losing one I liked.

Now I have an excuse to buy another flying plastic disc. :)

Jul 21 2005, 01:11 AM
When I first started back in the rec days I had a DX eagle. It was beat in so it was straight. Had that thing forever and loved it. Leaving the course after playing 18, thought I tried throwing a side arm, up and deep into the woods... gone. I didn't even throw it hard but it wasn't come back. Looked for ever. Thought they all flew like that one, got a couple others, didn't like em.

Put me on disc golf hiatis for some time. Playing more than ever now... don't even miss her anymore Got a sidewinder and orion I'm diggin and my game is way better  sometimes.

Jul 21 2005, 09:46 AM
One of my first serious years out of the two ( last year) i was out playing one of the hardest courses around here and threw my champion leopard out and hyzered it a little. Went in the thickets and never came back out. I hit a few field birdies ( 175 ft and about) and miss it tremendously, i have another leopard but it doesnt fly like that one did. Biggest upset i've had so far.

I lost a 168 Sidewinder....I had just figured out the best way to throw this disc. It was sweet for a long S-fairway on my home course. I chucked it, it turned too soon....top of a tree...dang. I would have climbed the tree, but I was wearing dress pants. Stupid Spruce trees!

I tried replacing it, but the other sidewinder's I have tried seem to fly different. Maybe one day...

I Just lost my first disc. I was throwing my beast on hole 14 on basil Marella park (like any of you will know what im talking about) and its a long right turn. I just got a Firebird for these kind of shots, but i wasnt to familiar with it yet, so i threw the old beast. I gave it too much power and Hyzer flipped it down the wooded hill on the left. I didnt really care to look for it because i have no use for it anymore. It was the first disc i bought when i became more 'serious' about disc golfing.

I left my first and only ace disc sitting near a basket. We were playing best disc and we took the other guys and I forgot to pick it up

171 z-XS... I found it originally and it was beat to perfection. I replaced it, but its not the same.
