I can't believe I broke 900 the second round...
Looks like it's time to move up eh? :D
Yeah, well, we'll see what my ratings look like from Bowling Green the week before... I think I'll be seeing lots more high 700s, low 800s... My score at the Iron Horse wasn't even competitive with the Intermediates, let alone the Advanced... my goal for the summer is to be forced into the Intermediates by my rating, so we'll see how that goes. It would help if I could quit losing my Champion Orcs...

Doug,
Good shooting at the Iron Horse. Unfortunately, I suspect your 900+ rated round will change. Notice that when you scroll over the little trophy to the right of the tournament listing it says "Unofficial Results." Those round ratings are based purely on scores without any consideration for course layout. Remember that all amateurs except Advanced played from the white tees while the open, masters and advanced played from the orange tees. Notice that a second round 70 by an advanced player is rated exactly the same as a second round 70 by yourself although you played a different course layout.
Unfortunately, you will not know the official rating until they do the next update in July when they factor in course layouts.
Reagrdless of what the numbers say - you still got the win!! Since you only won by a stroke, don't feel like you must move up to intermediate right away - only when you feel it is time for your own sake.

Note to TDs: The online software will generate pretty accurate ratings if you take the time to enter separate course layouts when not every division plays the same layout in a round. Check the online Help or contact Dave Gentry if you need help with this feature.

Chuck,
Thanks for the heads up on that - it is something I have missed in the past. I went back in to the results listed and updated the information.
However, when I updated the information it just asks course layout, # holes and par - the two course layouts have the same # of holes and same par - just one layout is shorter than the other. Also, once I made the update - the round ratings for those divisions playing the shorter (white tees) layout are no longer being generated. Most propagators played the longer (orange tees) - could too few propagators for the shorter layout be the issue??
Thanks,
John
Wow, that didn't last long... I should have taken a screen shot :) Oh well, gives me something to shoot for...

yes...that is why...
right now the online calculator is still looking for the wrong number of props. Now you only need 5.

Theo said he found where the prop count is located in the online software but hasn't had to time drop the number to 5.

is the online calculator a tool only available to TD's when they enter results or could anyone with some spare time enter a list of propegators to a form and get round ratings from that?
just curious, would like to see how it all works and ive never run a pdga event myself

Download the Excel spreadsheet on the ratings info page to play around with the numbers.

thanks chuck. I know it gets said all the time, but pdga.com has some of the WORST navigation I've ever seen in my life. I know there's a lot of info on the site, it's just impossible to find any of it

I would wholeheartedly agree that a re-organization of information on the PDGA site is sorely needed, or at least a search function to assist in locating desired information.

Don't know about the sibling ace question but a husband and wife in MN hit an ace on the same hole in different groups from different tees in the same round in MN in 1980s.
No Final 9 ratings. Need at least 14 holes for a course to get ratings.

That's more like it... there's the Doug I know... missing no fewer that 6 putts from within 20' EVERY round... but even doing that it looks like I might hit my goal of getting above 875 if I just turn it up a little... :)
I'm actually glad I didn't do as well here... I needed to come down a little... a fair dose of humility is something that I need on a very regular basis.. :D
I hope more people show up who have already played in the IN Summer Series (Novice)... I didn't get to play w/ any of the people close to me in South Bend... I'd like to go heads up with a few of them... I want to win because I played better, not because no one else showed up...
