To anyone that cares, and it might be most of you, Brian Skinner shot a 1115 rated round this weekend at the Virginia Open A-Tier event! He crushed the old course record by 5 strokes and earned himself the first ever 1100+ rated round! Everyone go ahead and give him his mad props. I got to play with him and witness it. Shame he missed two putts from about 25 and 35. Great shooting buddy!

Mad Props to you B.
He was very humble about the record, the round, and the respect everyone was showering on him during and after the round...Very classy. No doubt he will be picked up this week by a major sponsor.
He's just another

Best I've ever shot out there was a 53, and I thought that was a **** good round. I was leading adv by 2 strokes after the first round last year with that! 41 is INSANE. Isn't that the doubles record too?

So what kind of course is this? I'm guessing heavily wooded with narrow tight fairways? And there are about 15 holes that are possible to birdie but very very tight/long?? Seems like the only way to shoot 1115 would be to just get lucky and hit EVERY possible gap the entire round and make all your putts. I don't think it's even possible to shoot that high on an open course.

The entire course is wooded.
There is really only 2 gimme birdies on the course, and there are 2 or 3 holes that could be considered par 4's.
The course is really about keeping it in the middle and making your 3's.
IF there were a 4 round tournament on it, you could realistically get a 2 on about ever hole 3 times and like a 7 on it once.
It's really tough duece after tough duece.

Every hole out there is birdiable. There are two holes (2 & 7) out there that you CAN birdie but most dont. I've never birdied them but I've had putts at both. Its long and all wooded, but not super tight unless you're off the fairway. If you get a bad kick, you're likely to take a 5(or worse) on any hole. Every shot has to be on.

That must have been some round! Wish I could have seen it.
Fantastic Brian!
Now... not to diminish the accomplishment at all, but I think that this is the only course where an 1100 round is possible without hitting a couple aces.
I mean it's brutal!! It's the type of course where you can be throwing great and on top of your game but still walk away with monstorous scores. To shoot that well Brian must've had his A+ game (AND) some A+ good fortune... But look what can happen when you have both things going for you at the exact same moment in time. It'll be a top moment in Brians life forever... and a claim on a record that might last forever.... WOW!!!
I'm so jealous.

That, or a course like Hornets Nest (where Mike Jo shot a 1100 round in practice).
Both of these courses are the style of course that an 1100 round could be shot on. Lots of birdies, but WCP is around par.

As a guy who was in the group watching it, yeah, he hit almost every fairway. Missed the fairway on 7, got a bad kick, then a good one, approached 25 deep, and missed the putt. Next hole 35 deep, missed the putt. He got bonus deuces on 10 and 16, and missed hole 11 (tough deuce, but very 2able). He also parked 18 which might be considered a par 4. He hit every fairway (but 7 and 11), got some love (canned a 90 footer downhill), and just played solid. Fun times.
Hey Todd.
