What is so special about the first runs? I have a couple somewhere....

I have a couple of hot stamped Z-Buzzes that have "WASP" etched on the inside of the rim are these 1st runs?

1st runs are SWEET and flat. Kind of like 2nd run CE Valkyries were. They are all I throw for buzzzes besides my CryZtal Buzzz. I have 1 that I have been throwing since they came out and 2 backups that are unthrown. All max weight. I wouldn't sell them for less than 40 bux a piece. Thats how sweet of a disc they are.

No...on second thought, I would never sell them. I think with the one I am throwing now, and my 2 backups, I should be set for 10 years or so! There is nothing you can do to beat these things up! My orange 1st run flys the same as it did brand new. And it's seen its fair share of tree shots over the year and a half I have owned it for.

I'm sitting on 7 or 8 myself. I wish i still had the 100 or so that i purchased when they came out; they sold like hotcakes. :confused: You just never know how collectable a disc will become. Funny thing about the 1st Z-Buzzz's is people want them to throw.....not to hold onto until they die.

Yesterday Gary Sugart aced hole #2 at Grapevine with his. I made him retire it. He threw out an ultimatum, he'd retire it if i gave him one from "The Closet". :mad:I think i got screwed! :confused: :p

exactly. i dont wanna collect a disc. shelving discs that were meant to fly makes no sense to to me at all. i wanna throw those puppies! i only have one... its still in primo shape... but i would like a modest backup stash.

i aced hole 18 on the coyote with one. :Dpat i might could work a deal on 1.

CryZtal Buzzzes are definately more overstable than 1st runs. Not as stable as the Z Wasp, but in between the 2. The CryZtal is also more domey and the 1st run is totally flat.

I agree that the Crystal is Way more stable than a 1st run... I wouldn't compare the two at all though.
The 1st Run Z-buzzz is the best of all the buzzz discs. It is a straight flier and it holds the line you want(similar to a QMS i'd say).
The Crystal is Very veyr domey, but is way more stable. I find a totally differnet purpose for the crystal than i do for the first run.

Best thing you can find to compare is a FLatt Run of Z-buzzz's or to find a way to flatten one out legally.

I think they just used a different blend of plastic in the first runs and they were run in the Wasp mold which is why I think they came out flatter. The 1st runs are HANDS DOWN the best midrange EVER to come out of a mold. Im sitting on a stash myself and im looking to get some more. Im trading 2 to 1 Champion plastic on these babies in weights from 174-178 so if you have any that you dont throw then send me a PM and we will work something out. <font color="pink"> </font>

I picked the first runs up for a little bit...then decided i liked the availability of the second run better (plus i received 5 for a tournament i ran)... the first runs are sweet though! the 2nd run fit in perfectly between my S element and my E Element X.

All the colors are the same stability. All the ones out of the same RUN fly the same. Pretty much ALL first run discs fly different then their later run brothers and sisters. If I lost a 1st run 178 Blue Z BUZZZ all I need to replace it is a 178 Blue 1st run Z BUZZZ :D

Only First Runs i've thrown were my 3 REd First runs and a very light(171) purple..
I found the reds to be my favorites in appearance and flight.
Wish i had more, but i lost one randomly one day on an open course..

There's nothing better than a First Run Blue with White Stamp Buzzz!!!!

i beg to differ my orange with purple stamp rocks and I got a back up pink with silver stamp first run in case i lose good ol orange the first buzz i ever got.

The Blues with the white are sweet but the BEST ones are the Blues with the RED stamp. These are the best Z BUZZZs i have EVER seen :D They get my lots of 2s :D:D:D

The BEST are the very rare opaque red. Feels like an '01 Roc. The only other thing I've felt that's close is a proto blank Tsunami.

Thats what my BLUE ones feel like. You cant even see threw them :D

i thought all the reds were opaque? and i wouldn't consider them rare.. i bought 3 and have seen probably about 30since then. They do feel amazing though.. Wish all Discs felt like them.

meanwhile... yesterday i got home to find that the neighbors pitbull and its two smaller co-dogs had escaped their fence and KILLED my oldest cat. my cat who was born on the ranches of texas, moved to the city of Arlington with me, then to Scottsdale, back to Arlington and on to Austin for a year. the cat who took the long plane ride and tumultous journey with me to live in China for six months... and who patiently braved a family-obligatory holiday trip of 14 hours in an over-packed cattle car of a passenger train from shanghai to my wife's parents in the dead center of china. then back again. the cat who without complaint returned with me to arlington and set up household with my wife and baby. the cat who, until yesterday, allowed my kid to lay on her, jump on her, pounce on her, with nary a glare or growl. the cat who was as idiosynchratic as innova plastic, but as loyal and reliable as discraft. gone in a single vicious bite and twist of the neck.

now thats a true story, for real, for fact. check with the arlington PD if you want verification.

Agreed! Every other one I have seen is semi-transparent. The reds I'm talking about LOOK like red X plastic. NO light gets through.

I have one 177 Orange Z Buzzz that's brand new, and one 177 Orange that's been thrown less than 2 dozen times with my name on it. (Hard to say which is more valuable, because I'm sure I'm on my way to being famous) Both are first runs, and are in the Wasp mold. Both are milky-orange with white stamps that say "First Run."

I was given on three years ago, with a tournament stamp on it. It has sense played that tourny two more times! still just as stable as the day i got it! As far as first run buzzz's ask mike B @ the link bellow if he is willing to part with some of his! Im sure he has a lot of them!!!!

Yes! :eek: I could be wrong, but Gimp may have had some. He also had 1st run Z-Xtreme's with the wicked tornado stamp. I'm lucky enough to have some of those Z-Xtremes.

I have decided to part with my pink first run z buzz for the right price if anyone is interested. it is 176 or 178 i can't remember. been thrown only 10 times or so with no major damage maybe a scuff of dirt on it but in near mint shape. I may be interested in a trade as well

so i rummages throw my tounament disc box, and found this funny looking roc. white 175g, totally unthrown. it says "classic" on it. kind of a circle pattern, with "innova champion" on the top and "golf dic" on the bottom. the R-O-C letters are vertical, with wings on the side, something like this:

so my question to the roc experts is: is this a good one, or just another roc?

Sounds like it's just a classic roc. Maxes out at 175g, unlike the larger diameter Roc.

yep...classic roc...probably has CR on the back...just a longer XD.

So the Z buzz's I ordered from PDGA.com were delivered.

I'm inclined to think they are 1st runs. Here's why.
All the 1st runs I have seen do NOT have the ghost stamp "PDGA approved" or ghost stamped stability ".5"
All the 2nd runs I have seen include both ghost stamps.
The NT Zbuzz in the PDGA store has no ghost stamp on the top.

I have seen a first run clear Zbuzz, but it was only 1, with no stamp.

Can anyone help clarify.

I have a ton of later run Z BUZZZs that dont have the Stabiliy or Pdga approved stamp on them. Unless they are flat Top and semi Opaque or fully opaque they are not first runs. Also they must say WASP on the inner rim to be a first run.

i got a few of those also. they do say WASP and are definitely flat like a first run... but that could be the stamp. hadnt thought of all the other clues - thats good detective work!

As stated before, these are stamped WASP in the rim.

Then maybe they are. Are they clear with just the NT stamp or what stamp do they have???

......but didn't the Buzzz come out in 2003? Why/How could an '04 NT disc be a first run a year later? :D

Buzzz' with a ghost stamp seem to be the closest to the first runs (flat tops), anyone know if fly similar. I only have 5 brand new first runs left and want to save them if my ghost stamps have the same flight.

The 04NT buzz was a fundraiser for the 04 NT's? So, you would want a fundraiser disc to come out before the events.

I'm curious about this for 2 reasons. I want to know what run they are, and I've had this debate with friends about what year an ice bowl roc is. If its produced the year before, or the year on the stamp.

After rediscovering some brain cells, i remember them coming out in the late summer of 2003. I vividly remember using it at the USDGC that year......and i remember Timmy Gill finally birdiing hole #1 with it. Monkey off your back TG! :D

Has anyone thrown any of the SuperColor Z-buzzz's ? I have one from the Memorial that is as flat if not flatter than any of my first runs and it's alot stiffer than anything that I have in Champion or Z plastic.

didn't the buzzz come out in the winter of '03-'04. that was the only time i could recall ordering them.. i'm probably wrong though.

We were throwing them at the 2003 USDGC which is held in October. They came out a month or two before that event.

Since everyone loves these things so much i have decided to take offers on a 178 orange (wht stamp) 1st run buzzz, barely used 9.0-9.5/10.........pm if interested.

The original course plays easy when you throw a 1st run Z Buzz every hole.
