Just caught a glimpse of the 2005 Pro Worlds Buzz ... Don't mean to be harsh to the artist/designer (it is "pretty", but geez...).
I think this full color-printing thing is cool ... but for Gods Sake ... Please, don't do designs like this on discs! There are so many cool things you can put on a disc now ... they don't need to look like decorative dinner plates.
So far, I have seen only about 5 full color discs that are really well designed with complimentary art. Sorry, this disc (http://www.sunkingdiscs.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=S&Product_Code=3400-PROBZ) is not one of them.
In graphic design, "Less is better", is a good rule to follow.
(Just a quick note, I am a professional Art Director, and have been a freelance illustrator for 25 years ... I am qualified to critique stuff called "art")
Anyone else have any comments about INNcolor or full color discs they have seen lately. If you have pictures of some cool ones, post them please.

so true. i call discs, 'plates' from time to time. but i wanted to throw something this ugly, i go raid some old ladies garage sale and throw those plates into a landfill. (i think a majority of them would be understable!)
but the point of INNcolor discs are for visual stimulation. most of us are just gunna throw them up on a wall or whatever. but some people are actually gunna throw them. and if they throw this one, they should be made fun of. like how we all made fun of the kids with the ugly clothes in elementary school (me).
FYI: i am a graphic artist and i like to think that i have some perception of what looks good.
i would never pay $25 (plus shipping) for this junk.
why not make some SWEET STUFF with all the technology available??
just my opinions.

First off, INNColor and Full Color discs from Discraft are two different things. Second, I beleive with the plate looking one, the effect was intentional...sort of a play on the heritage of Allenstown...at least thats how I saw it. Third...who cares?
I care! Boneman is "off his Rocker". That's a great design, great disc! He's probably jealous, or trolling, or both.

I agree. I dont think its that bad. In fact, if I lived there { Allentown} and didnt play disc golf, Id buy one just cause. Whats the big deal? If you are both " qualified" graphic artists Im sure youve done worse. The InnColors are all pretty much sweet.

trolling? sure, on any other message board. in case you couldnt tell, this is the pdga forums. this is par for the course :)
i do agree they're hideous discs, whether they wanted to showcase the amish heritage or not. i wont buy one, but thats just me. they made a design they were happy with, and now we'll see if people will buy it. Since they're fundraiser discs anyway, the only people they're hurting is themselves if the discs dont sell well.
Now, the AM world's disc I like... :) fortunately thats the disc ill be hanging on my wall since im going to that one.

Third...who cares?
obviously, due to the fact that this post is here. somebody does...
i just think GOOD ART should be praised and BAD ART should be ridiculed
This isn't an INNcolor; just want to make that clear, if it wasn't.

Is it the pastel colours? The hokey text? Don't tell me it's the composition, theme or execution of the drawing itself...I'll have to drag out the "ignore user" function, if so! ;)

I like the amish horse and carriage :)
that might be the only cool thing on this disc
it doesnt matter who made it, it still stinks.

Well you certainly can't blame the manufacturer. There is an ancient guideline in the business world that reads:
The customer is ALWAYS right. If that's what the customer wants, that's what the customer gets. :D
By the way, Here are some examples of some really sweet stuff. Click. Click. Click. (http://www.discraft.com/Web%20Pages/Main.html)

i love both of the DGLO discs and the US Am Nationals. the masters one is cool but not as orginal as the others.
the only one ive seen out fo teh bunch is the memorial one and it is sweet how they made it.
i do graphic design for a label printing company. we do some pretty high tech stuff. like full color (photo quality) with only 4 colors (cyan, magenta, yellow, and black). so i appreciate high quality printing, but only with a solid design can a piece be 'good'.
as somebody who works directly with customers on art i can say from experience that you make it look how the customer wants it to look. no matter how freakin' ugly it really is. you try and convince them that their art is stupid and will not sell as well as something with more visually stimulating artwork. but whatev...

That is one ugly disc. I'd have to beat myself up if I ever caught myself dropping $25 on that thing.
On the other hand, some of those discs on the Innova site links are beautiful...is it possible to get a hold of one of those palm tree discs from Hawaii?

Man, there are some really cool 4c discs on the Discraft and Innova sites, and obviously some really talented artists too!
Trolling ... hmm. I generally use a fly rod, or when I want to be less subtle, a stick of dynamite. lol. I definitely don't need any more work if that's what was being implied.
Are there any cool disc golf art sites/pages anyone knows of? I haven't seen a whole lot of disc "art" around; it would be fun to see what's out there.
"Plates" is the literal translation into Indonesian, and no doubt many other languages. The flying plates from Iowa set the bar ridiculously high, I think that must be part of the equation. Not one of you "critics" has had anything to objectify beyond a simplistic like/dislike schtick. This design is active yet clean, topical, balanced, timely, and quaint...$25 is a steal to HELP fund a Worldclass event for YOUR choosen sport; get real! In the interim, between this year's miss [yours! :D], and when you submit for next years', do some gear fundraiser for your neck-of-the-woods B-tier, then you'll have something to say! :o:D:)
...by the way, "my" disc is probably by far the 'ugliest' on the INNcolor page...but as far as I know, all 34 people besides myself have their "Home Course" displayed on a wall. ;) It meant a lot to us, individually, and collectively! It's also the "Abbey Road of Picturediscs" :D :D:cool:

Probably not. Even some of our ex-Hawaii players have tried and come up empty handed. We had 50 Inncolor discs run for that tournament, but since we did 2 designs, we only got 25 of each. They sold out very quickly during the tourney. I'm just glad that I got my "set" before they were gone.
I e-mailed about that disc twice back in March--no reply. :(
