So... life story behind .....
Love to throw! Want disc golf in MY town. Start a club, (about thirteen members who, coincidentally, all have the same last name as me, wanna join? It's free, and we have great benefits like late nights clearing fairways, and early mornings planning clinics), and get approval for an 18-hole home-away-from-home, as long as "we" can finance, install, and maintain it. The first course in our town. So, I contact the only organized club in this state and get 100% cooperation, non-profit status, donate baskets, all of it! That is until 3 weeks later when all the officers quit the organization!
Today is friday the thirteenth and I see a post on the clubs board asking for all golfers to rally together and show your commitment to disc golf, so I call the number and get even more optimism and support from the new officers! Seconds after hanging up, a local player who happens to have ties to an ultimate league in this town ( who knew?! ), calls me on the phone asking about the course. He happens to teach and has been looking for a community recreational endeavor for some sort of class volunteer effort for his students. Over 15 teen volunteers to help clear and install our first disc golf course!
Happy Friday the 13TH!

Great things are happening here in alaska! With the course I am working on I think there will be three new courses this summer bringing AK's total public courses to 8 or nine. Considering four years ago disc golf was virtually unheard of up here, I think great things really are happening! :D
