does anyone know how the other runs of CE-JLS (like the link below that TMurph has on ebay) plastic flew in comparison to the original "CE-JLS" test run of 2000"

There is NO comparison between the CE-JLS of 2000 and the one that the guy has on ebay. The one on ebay is actually the QJLS 1.2. It is a more overstable than the CE-JLS. The only QJLS that campares to the CE-JLS is the opaque, QJLS 1.1. The color see through QJ (1.2) is good but in my opinion, and my noodle arm, they were not as long or as straight. Now the new run of QJ's, most of them clear, no color, and no run number on the back, are really a good disc.
NOW...if you really want a discs that flies longer and straighter then the CE JLS then you need to get the new ORION by MILLENNIUM. Try it, you'll like it. :D

`Troll`
I have a opaque bright green qjls 1.1 with a tournament stamp on it... weight 168.. it's 9/10 (probably better), i'd let it go for $15 plus shipping. It is VERY simalar to the CE JLS'.
pm me.
There was only one run of the CE-JLS and that was the test run of 2000.
These were all stamped as test run of 2000, except for the ones Houck stamped with the Texas Teams logo that year ('01?), and they had a sticker on the back (short lived name) that dubbed them as "ME JLS."
Hope that clears everything up about the comparison.
They were some of the greatest discs ever made. Period. The Q's were good, but not comparable.
thanks for the offer atreau, but 168 is a bit too light for me...how much do these things usually go for? id love to get one around 171g. ce or 1.1

The last one I got costed $38.00 with shipping ,now hace 13 of them  :D
I've never seen a CE-JLS that wasn't dyed. Were the entire run of these dyed?
Sweet Lou,
Most, but not all.
I had a few white ones (one of which I raffled off at last year's LOSO).
The Texas Team stamped ones were all white, but there were only a small handful of the CE stamped ones that did not go to J-Bird. Those were mostly handed out to Houck's employees at the time, of which I was one.

I hope you still have one of those
I have one C.E. JLS that I found in the used stack at play it again sports.(location disclosed) :p Picked it up for $3.99, no bullspit! It is dyed like the rest, alot of pink and purple but not girly in any way. It is used but has no noticible dings or gashes, id say a 7.5-8.
I have never thrown it knowing how much these babys go for on e-bay. I do throw a 172 dyed world doubles(03) QJ, as well as a 175 purple factory QJ. Very strait for both, Very,
but I like to use the dyed for headwind annies(rhbh) b/c it holds the line extremely well, instead of biting the dirt like a valk!!
Well theres my 2 cents :DWho's next?

I have a Mint Test Run that has that same kinda shaped dye job in Purple's,Blue's,& Yellow/Green
Really COOL Spinning on the finger :cool:Or hanging on the wall ;)
I keep 2 in the bag at all times, but was thinking of replacing them with the Orion. I have yet to see, feel, or throw one, but the word is good. The Sidewinder is the closest disc I've thrown to a CE-JLS yet.
I have 1 test run o' 2000 - thrown about 10 times - who wants it?

I am always in the market for more.
BTW, the Orion is not a direct replacemenmt for the CE-JLS. They both require about the same amount of speed and snap to make them fly as you expect them too, and the Orion goes much further with the same energy. Back off the throw, and it won't have the same flight path as a CE-JLS.
What do you want for the CE-JLS?

I still have a white CE-JLS that has still never been thrown.
CE-JLS may be my most go to disc till the Orc.
straight down the fairway they will go, but then the Orc will go farther.
I still use them as my rollers, have a newer one for long rolls (more than 450) another I use for turnover shots and shorter rolls 350-450, then I use a JLS for rolls shorter than 350.
I still have 2 backups for my CE-JLS's that have not been thrown, then the white one that Mr. Duke wants :D
(he has already offered me 2 CE-JLS's tye dyes for it or Medal head Vipers)

May 16 2005, 05:14 PM
You mean in the same red plastic as a 1st run Firebird ?
I'll have to check, I'm not sure what I've got. I never was that good at telling which run a valk was.

yep, hard red, says VL on the back if I remember correctly.
Don't forget domey, with concentric rings all over the top and (unless it's been removed) flashing around the edges.
Anyways, if he doesn't have one I have a used one I would gladly trade you for a CE-JLS.
