I love disc golf. I am now pro, but still love to play as often as possible. I recently moved from the suburbs into the heart of the city. I am very dissapointed that there are no courses in the city limits. I am interested in starting a petition to have the city put one up. There are a multitude of parks that could be utilized with wide open space. Does anyone know about how I could start this. I am thinking about maybe a website with a form for everyone. Can anyone lend me a hand or give me some ideas? dan.villarreal@gmail.com

Ah, but there is a course in the City of Chicago. They have a league starting there this weekend. You have to be there. Just scroll down to the Club section and look for a post in the Discontinuum area. I'll send you e-mail.

I think that the ONLY way to go to get more courses in Cook and DuPage counties is to start with the Forest Preserves. The parks just have too much going on and too little space to do it with. The forest preserves already run their own golf courses, it shouldn't be that much of a stretch. And they have TONS of land. Palos and Blackwell instantly jump to mind as prime pieces of land. Now all you really have to do is have a free schedule to sit through all the board meetings.

If Chicago disc golfers support the Chicago Fly 18, that will get more courses in the ground. If the concept is successful, other courses will open up to the idea.

I too live right in the heart of the disc golf pit that is city-proper Chicago. Although I'd love to get a course on the city parkst, it just isn't going to happen. Too many people, not enough space. Edgebrook and Madison Meadows are the too closest to me and they're both about 25 minutes away. There are a few of us that head out pretty much every weekend. Let me know if you're interested in car-pooling.
